W dyskusji o publicznym wymiarze zasobów mieszkaniowych ważnym elementem są miejskie udogodnienia. Stanowią one istotną część tak zwanego sąsiedztwa mieszkaniowego i są publiczne w tym sensie, że są źródłem korzyści zewnętrznych wpływających na użyteczność mieszkań i jakość zamieszkania w mieście. W konsekwencji kształtowanie miejskich udogodnień może wpływać pozytywnie na skuteczność prowadzonej polityki mieszkaniowej. Z punktu widzenia badań nad udogodnieniami miejskimi wyzwaniem pozostaje jednak stwierdzenie, które udogodnienia są pierwszoplanowe, a które drugorzędne w ocenie jakości zasobów mieszkaniowych. Ponadto w badaniach tych stosowane są nowe podejścia i narzędzia, pozwalające analizować zależności między zasobami mieszkaniowymi a udogodnieniami miejskimi. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie o wpływ udogodnień miejskich na jakość zasobów mieszkaniowych. W pierwszej kolejności podejmuje próbę wyjaśnienia pojęć "udogodnienia miejskie" i "sąsiedztwo mieszkaniowe" oraz wskazania ich kluczowych typów i cech charakterystycznych. W dalszej części artykułu zaprezentowano wyniki badania zrealizowanego w Łodzi, prezentującego czynniki satysfakcji z zamieszkania w poszczególnych częściach miasta. Wyniki te pośrednio przyczyniają się do oceny skali wpływu udogodnień miejskich na postrzeganą jakość zamieszkania, jak również potencjalną zmianę miejsca zamieszkania. Otrzymane rezultaty mają charakter inicjalny i mogą stanowić punkt wyjścia do kolejnych, pogłębionych studiów.

The question of migration within the European Union, as well as between its member and non-members states, has become recently an important issue. Among the EU and OECD countries, Poland is not a major recipient of immigrants. However, in recent years one can observe a growing number of both permanent and temporary immigrants, most of whom are Ukrainian citizens, whose main departure motive is work. The main purpose of the paper is to conduct a comparison of the migration patterns for Poland and Ukraine, as well as survey the mutual causation forces that determine the structure of the Ukraine-Poland migration corridor. The paper consists of three parts. It starts with an introduction followed, by theoretical backgrounds of migration, outlining its main types and models. The next parts highlight the volume, directions and structure of migration flows for Ukraine and Poland. The evolution of the Ukraine-Poland migration channel and its mutual effect on the economies of both countries is highlighted in the final part.

Abstract
In this article, we identify the institutional offers for emigrants and evaluate the role of immigrants during the industrial revolution in the nineteenth-century history of three cities (once labelled 'Manchesters') from different parts of the Russian Empire. The dynamic growth of these cities was based on the textile industry but also depended largely on newcomers and highly mobile and entrepreneurial citizens. We show the key institutional factors that accelerated the immigrants' mobility to these Eastern European 'Manchesters' and made their role in urban development crucial. We claim the textile industry and institutional conditions for newcomers were prerequisites, but the entrepreneurship of a large number of immigrants proved crucial in these cities.
