A German child welfare practitioner describes the municipal endeavor to digitalize aspects of a social work theory within an electronic information system for use in daily practice and its reception of the practitioners. Reflections on implications for practice and future research are provided.
This article describes the context, development, objectives, and content of three instruments. They stem from two questionnaires, used in the ERiK-Surveys 2020 and the Corona-KiTa-Study (CKS), two multi-perspective surveys which were developed by the German Youth Institute, to measure quality as well as challenges and solutions of the Corona pandemic in early childhood education and care (ECEC). The three instruments focus on (1) childcare center directors' subjective level of information about pandemic-related regulations in the ERiK questionnaire and the extent of implementation of (2) hygiene and (3) protective measures in ECEC in the CKS questionnaire. First analyses suggest good performance and quality of the instruments. Further analyses (e.g., regarding validity and reliability) will be carried out. The instruments seem to be promising for future research, for example regarding medical questions in the field of ECEC.
Purpose:This article presents a systematic review of research regarding how best to educate social work students and practitioners concerning of the process of evidence-based practice and/or the application of empirically supported treatments (ESTs).Method:We conducted a systematic review with a narrative synthesis, largely following the Cochrane Handbook of Systematic Reviews for Interventions and PRISMA reporting guidelines for systematic reviews and meta-analyses.Results:Twenty-seven studies met our eligibility criteria. These consisted mostly of uncontrolled designs and their measures relied mainly on learners' self-perception regarding acquisition of declarative and procedural knowledge, motivation, and satisfaction. Reports were mostly positive (88.7%).Conclusions:Research regarding the education of social work students and practitioners about the process of evidence-based practice as well as ESTs is limited. Further investigation is needed concerning the effectiveness of specific teaching methods using controlled designs and more rigorous outcome measures including observation of practice in real-life situations and/or in role-plays.
Die Corona-Pandemie machte es erforderlich, dass Kindertageseinrichtungen ihr Angebot kurzfristig umstellen und unterschiedlichste Schutz- und Hygienemaßnahmen umsetzen mussten. Welche Auswirkungen diese Maßnahmen auf die Interaktionsebenen der pädagogischen Praxis hatten, wird mit Blick auf den Umgang der Fachkräfte mit den Kindern, das Zusammenspiel der Kinder untereinander und auf die Kooperation der Einrichtung mit den Eltern untersucht. Datenbasis bildet eine wiederholte, schriftliche Befragung von 2.529 Kitaleitungen im Zeitraum von Oktober 2020 bis Juni 2021, welche sowohl aktuelle als auch retrospektive Einschätzungen der Leitungskräfte bezüglich der Qualität unterschiedlicher Interaktionsebenen erfragt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Einführung spezifischer, coronabedingter Maßnahmen, wie etwa das Distanzgebot, das Tragen von Masken oder ein Betretungsverbot der Kita für Eltern, mit einer signifikanten Verschlechterung der Beurteilung unterschiedlicher Interaktionsebenen einhergehen. Positivere Beurteilungen gingen hingegen mit einer häufigeren, auch nicht persönlichen Kommunikation mit Eltern und Kindern einher. Zudem zeigte sich, dass insbesondere Leitungen von Einrichtungen mit einem hohen Anteil an sozial benachteiligten Kindern von einer Verschlechterung berichten.
Soziale Arbeit lebt als Disziplin und Profession von der ständigen Weiterentwicklung des in und mit ihr geteilten Wissens. Forschung, Theoriebildung, Lehre und Praxis bilden hierbei ein komplexes Gefüge im gesellschaftlichen Kontext. Der Band nimmt die verschiedenen Relationen in den Blick: Wo, von wem und in welcher Weise wird Wissen der Sozialen Arbeit gebildet, weiterentwickelt und geteilt? Und um welche Arten von Wissen geht es dabei?
