Black, white and shades of grey: A study of responses to residential segregation in the Pretoria-Witwatersrand region
In: Research Report, No. 9
There are three basic policy positions taken in South Africa with regard to racial zoning and Group Areas legislation: the position of abolition of all legislation, a position proposing the adaptation and reform of racial zoning and a position of retention or even reinforcement of racial zoning. This study is concerned with the dynamics of "residential segregation" in the sense of its basis in perceptions and motivations in the South African population, based on various sample surveys in the Pretoria-Witwatersrand-Johannesburg areas.
