Innovation and family firms
It is the goal to identify potential systematic differences between the Family- (FF) and None-Family-Firms (NFF) with regard to innovation and potentially performance. As a major area of interest, the dissertation not only tries to understand differences between FFs and NFFs, but also differences within the group of FFs. Therefore, a database of 315 FFs in the metropolitan area of Hamburg shall be utilized. In order to assess innovation and innovation willingness the patent-, R&D- and financial-data (assessing risk and performance) will be used. In addition, potentially moderating variables, such as ownership structure, generational aspects, and managerial structure (degree of family involvement) are vital parts of the outstanding analysis.
