The article presents themethodology proposalof comprehensive evaluation of the providedservices quality inregional passenger rail transport. The proposed methodology of the quality evaluation can be used for comparing the integrated transport systems by the quality level. It can be utilized as an evaluation of the provided services in the relationship with the submitter and the supplier as well. The methodologyproposal fully accept the transport policy of the EU, specifically the White Paper 2011 – The Roadmap to a Single European Transportation Area - Towards a competitive and Resourceful efficient transport system, that are also included in the quality norms and transportation operational programme in Horizon 2020.

The Theory of Constraints is a management tool for continuously improving corporate performance. In the USA, it has been very successful, above all due to the contribution of a comprehensive assessment of the issues of managerial control. Its development has also been taking place in the Czech Republic. This paper aims to present the Theory of Constraints tools and then apply some of them to a specific enterprise in logistics activities. The findings in terms of detecting and widening the bottleneck afterwards should exert a positive impact on corporate performance. Current Reality Tree, Conflict Diagram and Future Reality Tree are applied in the paper to eliminate undesirable effects that prevent the enterprise from increasing its performance. Besides providing this specific enterprise with concrete solutions to identified issues, this study aims at depicting the procedure for implementing the methods of the Theory of Constraints, including specific results and benefits of the suggested solutions, along with the quantification of their costs, savings and throughput.

The paper deals with the issue of taxes and charges in road freight transport in the Slovak Republic and the selected European countries. The aim is to compare and evaluate the position of the Slovak carriers towards foreign ones when doing business in the common European market. The selected kinds of taxes and charges (or costs items) relate to different production factors of road transport undertakings (vehicles, drivers, road infrastructure). Also, the legislation on taxes and charges differs among individual countries and differences can be observed in the principles of taxation. The objective is to make a comprehensive objectified comparison when taking into account several selected taxes, charges and costs in road transport.
