Für den in vier regionenbezogenen Einzelreihen erscheinenden Nachrichtenspiegel werden überregionale indische und Zeitungen der Nachbarstaaten sowie japanische und einige englische Zeitungen und Pressedienste ausgewertet, nichtenglische Artikel übersetzt. Die Hefte der Einzelreihen sind alle nach den Einzelstaaten der Region und innerhalb dieser nach den Teilbereichen internationale Beziehungen, innenpolitische Entwicklung, Verteidigung, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Technik gegliedert. Vor allem die Nachrichtenüberblicke über die Entwicklungen in den drei asiatischen Subregionen enthalten eine Fülle spezifischer Meldungen und Berichte, die in der westlichen Presse nur selten zu finden sind. Berichtszeitraum ist der jeweils vergangene Monat. (SWP-Hck)
