Challenging the current distributive dynamics of housing in Europe: Market, price, need
This presentation explores the current dynamics underpinning the distribution of housing in Europe, from a critical perspective. Building on human rights law and political and legal theory—in particular the right to housing and distributive justice concerns—, the presentation highlights several issues arising from the current model for housing allocation: its excessive reliance on market mechanisms, the false neutrality of these mechanisms, and the neglected role of need and socioeconomic status.
