THE SECOND ELECTION HELD UNDER THE SANDINSTA REGIME IN NICARAGUA BROUGHT VICTORY TO THE OPPOSITION ALLIANCE, THE NATIONAL OPPOSITIONAL UNION (UNO) LED BY VIOLET CHAMORRO. ON JULY 1979 THE FORCES OF THE SANDINISTA NATIONAL LIBERATION FRONT BROUGHT TO END FOUR DECADES OF DICTATORSHIP BY THE SOMOZA DYNASTY. THIS ARTICLE STATES THAT THE SANDINISTAS ARE NOT LIKELY TO SHARE THE FATE OF EAST EUROPEAN COMMUNISTS BECAUSE THEY REMAIN THE LARGEST SINGLE PARTY IN THE COUUNTRY AND HAVE A SOLID GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION.
