Through a series of international case studies, the nature and the geographical implications of the development of multinational corporations is examined. The volume concentrates on the latter Post-War period of corporate restructuring and readjustment in response to world-wide recession in the mid-1980s. The volume is divided into two parts. In the first each of the chapters considers a particular aspect of the problem of how multinational corporations have developed. In the second part the chapters consider different aspects of the economic and social impacts of these corporations. The common theme that links all the papers is their emphasis on careful historical analysis of different forms of spatial organisation and their transformation into other, different forms.

ABSTRACTAs higher education has increasingly embraced digital technologies, we have been too slow to acknowledge accessibility issues for students with visual disabilities. One of the earliest promises of information and communication technology was increased accessibility to content. In theory, digitized content should be as equally accessible as the printed word on a screen, a braille keyboard, or an audible voice on a speaker. In the majority of educational technology, this promise has gone unfulfilled, and faculty members are largely unaware of the myriad obstacles that students with visual disabilities confront while navigating the technology-rich classroom. The principles of Universal Design in Instruction (UDI) provide guidance for developing curriculum that maximizes accessibility and usability of course content for all learners, including those with disabilities. This article examines the development of political science courses through the lens of UDI.

The Reverend Henry Stuart Fagan (1827-1890), after a fine career at the City of London School and Oxford University, became headmaster of several grammar schools in succession, lastly at Bath Grammar School from 1858 to 1870 where he also held the linked parish of Charlcombe. His tenure was complicated by the intractable problems of the unreformed School's governance. He resigned in 1870 to become a country parson at St Just-in-Penwith in Cornwall and then at Great Cressingham with Bodney in Norfolk. He was a prolific writer for periodicals and newspapers, and his output included several interesting travel pieces, besides much on Ireland and Irish Home Rule in which he was a prominent controversialist, somewhat to his detriment in conservative Norfolk. His ecclesiastical politics appear to have been Christian socialist sensu Charles Kingsley, and firmly Anglican, and this gave his involvement in the Irish controversies its special character, for it meant that his Unionist opponents found it far more difficult to try and equate Home Rule with 'Rome Rule'. He was indeed vigorously pro-Irish in all things, but it is not at all clear why, partly because little is known about his parents and his disrupted childhood.
