ITALIANO: Il saggio propone una rilettura della storia politica dell'Aquila da metà Trecento a fine Quattrocento, per attribuire il giusto peso a tre attori politici: signori, sovrani, mercanti. Attraverso l'analisi di forme e procedure istituzionali, gruppi e articolazioni sociali e fazioni si rimarca la centralità dei mercanti nel delineare gli assetti politici e la rappresentanza, si illustrano le convergenze e le divergenze fra partes e gruppo dirigente, e la sinergia fra quest'ultimo e i signori cittadini. Tale sinergia fu essenziale per il controllo del contado – di cui si esamina il ruolo politico – e per la negoziazione con la monarchia, che permette di considerare quest'ultima come una risorsa per gli aquilani. In conclusione, si riprendono gli aspetti trattati per mettere in luce alcuni elementi della cultura politica aquilana. / ENGLISH: This essay offers a reinterpretation of the political history of L'Aquila between the middle of the fourteenth and the end of the fifteenth century, in order to give due weight to three political actors: urban lords, monarchy, merchants. Through the analysis of the institutional forms and procedures, as well as of social groups and factions, the essay stresses the centrality of merchants in shaping political structure and representation, sheds light on the relations between the partes and the ruling groups and on the synergy between the latter and urban lords. That synergy was crucial for the city's control over the contado – the political role of which is analysed – and for negotiation with the monarchy, which constituted a resource for the community. Finally, this essay discusses some aspects of local political culture.

This paper analyses the concept of everyday life as formulated in relational sociology. It shows that Pierpaolo Donati's historical analysis of the dualist nature of everyday life is similar to that of Alvin Gouldner but that the two authors' approaches differ in terms of the possibility of overcoming this dualism. From the perspective of relational sociology, sociological interpretations of everyday life can be traced to two paradigms. The first is the Marxist paradigm, in which everyday life is primarily characterized by forms of alienation. The second is the phenomenological paradigm, in which everyday life primarily consists of producing meaning. The first paradigm examines stories and cultures of subordinate social groups, and denounces domination and alienation in everyday life. The second paradigm examines the common-sense world, and how it is taken for granted, structured, and inter-subjective. Relational sociology seeks to overcome these two paradigms by highlighting their aporias, and considers alienation to be the outcome of a deep division between the ultimate meaning of life and the culture of everyday life. While in order to overcome this dualism, Gouldner offers an immanent reading of everyday life, relational sociology tries to show how in everyday life the relationship between social practices and culture may give rise to a new form of secularism that is accepting of non-fundamentalist aspects of religious belief.

I rapporti politici fra la città dell'Aquila e la monarchia aragonese erano soggetti a continua negoziazione attraverso tre canali: i parlamenti, le trattative per i capitoli e la 'contrattazione contingente' (corrispondenza e ambascerie ad hoc). In questo articolo si analizzano le richieste avanzate dalla comunità attraverso questi strumenti e le relative risposte regie, mettendo in luce la pluralità di interessi dell'élite locale e la sua politica di carattere egemonico, nonché l'azione monarchica volta a ribadire le prerogative regie e a tentare un coordinamento delle istanze locali a livello regnicolo. Tutto ciò avveniva in un contesto di riconosciuta sudditanza, che gli aquilani tentavano di rendere vantaggiosa sfruttando consapevolmente la negoziazione e riuscendo persino a coinvolgere il re nella stesura delle suppliche. ; The political relations between the town of L'Aquila and the Aragonese monarchy were subject to a process of constant negotiation, through three channels: parliaments, capitoli and instruments of 'contingent bargaining' (letters and ad hoc embassies). This essay analyses the urban community's petitions and the corresponding royal responses: it highlights the multiplicity of interests of the local élite and its hegemonic political ambitions, and investigates monarchical policies aimed at reasserting royal prerogatives and at coordinating local needs with those of the Kingdom of Naples as a whole. This happened in a context of formal subjection which the inhabitants of L'Aquila tried to turn to their advantage by consciously exploiting instruments of negotiation which even saw the involvement of the king in the drafting of petitions.

Pierre Rosanvallon nomeia de "política da presença" uma forma de obtenção de legitimidade democrática por proximidade, ou seja, uma forma de que os representantes políticos sejam tidos como legítimos pela ótica dos representados por meio da aproximação – da abolição de distâncias, combatendo a percepção de afastamento entre as instâncias representativas. A política da presença consiste na prática de uma representação empática, na qual narrativas individuais cotidianas (dos representados) são inseridas na atitude do líder (representante), passando assim a compor um exemplo narrativo no qual a atitude do governante "corporifica" um conjunto de posturas político-representativas. Ainda segundo descreve Rosanvallon, essa presença do governante pode servir como símbolo das respectivas políticas públicas, pautando-as e ilustrando-as no cotidiano, mitigando seus efeitos negativos ou servindo como referencial narrativo à sua aplicação. Isso não significa que esse comportamento simbólico, por si só, baste, mas sim que essa forma de representação pode auxiliar posturas governamentais, consolidando outras práticas administrativas, reforçando uma determinação do governo por meio da presença do líder, ou suavizando sua oposição mediante uma ...
