Taking the case of the Norwegian petroleum industry as its vantage point, the book discusses the question of industrial transformations in resource-based industries. Which indications are found of Norway moving away from welfare state populist education into the mainstream of educational globalisation? Contrasting the legacies with the current ideological and political changes certain educational consequences are identified. Effects on governance and funding, structure, curriculum and the level of participation and equality are seen. Certain dilemmas of "double talk" are found. Simultaneously with the country's slow adaptation to current international mainstream there are loud expressions of the old urban socialist and the rural populist values. The speed of change is expected to be slow due to the fortunate offshore oil economy. ; Straipsnyje nagrinėjama itin aktuali šių laikų švietimo problema - pasaulyje stiprėjanti internacionalizacija ir tradicinių nacionalinių vertybių išsaugojimas. Autoriai aptaria per pastarąjį dešimtmetį Norvegijoje įvykusius ideologinius prieštaravimus. Kartu įžvelgia didėjantį prieštaravimą tarp tarptautinių globalizacijos tendencijų ir norvegų tautos puoselėjamų vertybių bei tradicijų išlaikymo. Šalia analizuoja ir savo šalyje vykusios švietimo reformos pranašumus ir trūkumus. Remiantis išsamia reformos analize, daroma išvada, kad ekonomiškai stipri šalis gali laikinai atremti globalizacijos iššūkius. Tačiau ilgainiui šie prieštaravimai gali stiprėti ir tada šalis gali būti verčiama paklusti pasaulinėms švietimo raidos tendencijoms. Taigi straipsnyje keliamos problemos yra aktualios daugelio šalių švietimo reformų strategams.

In this article we use a comparative case study of collaborative research centres that operate at the interface between public science and private industry to question the assumption that hybrid organizations lead to hybrid practices. Public–private partnerships are intended to contribute to new work practices that solve challenges in public service provision and influence industrial innovativeness by engaging public research capabilities. Analysis of eight Scandinavian centres indicates considerable variance with respect to levels of integration of public and private partners and tensions between them. Five of the cases display no or highly contested hybrid practices and there seem to be many barriers to hybridization. Large differences in work practices from earlier interaction between the partners and radical goals of commercialization of excellent public science are important explanations.

The aim of the evaluation was to provide a description of the status of PhD education in Norway, following the implementation of the PhD degree in 2003. Moreover, the evaluation was to give an assessment of the performance of the PhD education system in terms of its quality, efficiency and relevance, and provide recommendations to the government and the higher education institutions about how to improve PhD education in Norway. The evaluation is of the overall system of PhD education, and does not seek to evaluate individual higher education institutions or PhD programmes.
