This study is analyzes the discourse of early childhood education and the role of pedagogy in fashioning modern mothers. This case of this study is Mother-Child Education Foundation (MCEF). It analyzes the imaginary of MCEF, which opens up a "space of intervention" and is articulated through discourses of the normal development of children and modernizing motherhood. The analyses of this study consist of two parts. In the first part, the official social imaginary of MCEF as civil society organization is interpreted. In the process of interpretation I problematized the projects and techniques deployed in MCEF programs via using analytical tools provided by governmentality studies. Second part of the analyses is concerned with MCEF's Mother Child Education Program (MOCEP) as a mechanism to fashion modern mother.

Neoliberalism along with other sites of cultural, social and political life has created deep impacts on childhood. With the rise of neoliberalisation of policies, childhood has come to be defined in terms of economic utility and wellbeing of society. In this paper, we examine the process of neoliberalisation through the changing role and meaning of childhood. We inquire the role of childhood in re-imagining of the Turkish society based on the data from the document of the strategic vision of the Turkish government. We seek to track the evolving notion of childhood and roles ascribed to it. By applying a critical discourse lens to the document of 8th Five Year Development Plan and Strategic Vision of 2023, we explain how the cultural politics of childhood work as tools of creating present and future workers. We examine the shifting place of childhood and instrumentalisation of childhood in neoliberal imagination of policy.

Gramsci's significance for education lies in two realms. First, his notion of hegemony provides a way of understanding in which informal educators function and it gives us the possibility of critique and transformation. His theory of organic intellectuals provides a more detailed place of adult education in his thought. The intellectuals have a crucial role in creating counter-hegemony. The second realm is in a wider context in which he discusses the traditional education and schooling and describes the education for the proletariat. This essay will focus on the importance of Gramsci's thoughts on adult education. To do this, the essay firstly will deal with his philosophy and political thoughts which has a close relationship with his ideas on adult education. Then, this relationship and his theory of education and intellectuals will be elaborated.

This paper focuses on orientalism as a cinematic paradigm in Islamic imagination. We compare two movies, "Bab el Oued City" (1994) and "The Time That Remains" (2009) that present different cases with regard to orientalism, fundamentalism and gender. We identify basic characters, their agency and roles in the whole setting. Our main argument about the movies, though originating from different contexts and historicity, is that they present somewhat conflicting cases with regard to issues we named above.
