"Thinking from the night". Emergency night care of people on the street as a means of analysing the rupture between links and time.
Relations between an individual and society are today taken up in the whirlwind of a new configuration : the place where the relation occurs, the link forged and which they forge together, and the symbolic framework through which this place and link are "constantly formed and reformed" (Gauchet). This new configuration is revealed as a backdrop to the development of policies and social emergency practices in relation to ineffectual collective regulations and integration policies. Emergency situations and suffering : nocturnal scenes of social life where the emergency situation, with its compacted temporality and instantaneity, seems to be the central mode of regulation and social organisation, whereas the suffering of those rescued and the exhaustion of the rescuers serve as a reminder of the change in people's status and identity.
