El Partido Comunista de Uruguay y la vía armada The Communist Party of Uruguay and armed struggle
The Communist Party of Uruguay, like others, was perfectlyinternationalist and pro-Soviet. However, gradually developed its ownstrategic and tactical definitions. The position toward the "pacificroad to revolution" help us to clarify this issue. While the CommunistParty of Soviet Union, after the XX Congress, builded about thegrowing of the odds of the "pacific road" to socialism, theCommunist Party of Uruguay argued exactly the opposite for theLatin American countries. Following this definition, despite being alegal party, PCU organized a secret military organization during thedecade before the 1973 "coup d'état".Key Words. Communist Party of Uruguay; Roads to revolution;Guerrilla; Internationalism; Nationalism.
