Katsina State in the Nigerian Federation: The basic realities
Die Broschüre beschäftigt sich mit der sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Lage im Teilstaat Katsina, der bis 1987 zu Kaduna gehört hat. Hauptziel ist es, dem Vorwurf zu widersprechen, die Bevölkerung der sahelischen Gebiete Nigerias produziere nicht genügend und profitiere nur von den Mitteln des föderalen Gesamtstaats. Trotz der Leistungen in der Landwirtschaft sind die Lebensbedingungen der Bevölkerung Katsinas nicht sehr gut. Dies wird auf die Bereicherung einiger weniger auf Kosten des größten Teils der nigerianischen Bevölkerung zurückgeführt, was zu Unsicherheit und Instabilität führt. Abhilfe können nationale Parteien zur Verteidigung einer demokratischen Verfassung bieten. (DÜI-Wgm)
