In: Medii i ezik: elektronno spisanie za naučni izledvanija po medien ezik
ISSN: 2535-0587
An effective legal communication is one in which the recipient not only receives and comprehends the message addressed to him, but also responds with acceptance or rejection by engaging in a particular behavior. The media's function as interpreters in the information flow between institutions and society is seen here, as well as vice versa. What are the most typical issues with comprehending and expressing legal terms, and do they succeed in realizing this function of theirs?
Structural and semantic characteristics of replica ergonyms in the onomasticon of the City of Astrakhan
In: Vestnik of Kostroma State University, Band 29, Heft 1, S. 157-161
The purpose of the article is to study the structural and semantic features of replica ergonyms as part of regional onomasticon. The analysis of the nominations of commercial objects of the City of Astrakhan revealed a layer of ergonyms that had appeared as a result of the communicative structures' lexicalisation. Stylistic features of colloquial speech give replica ergonyms an emotionally expressive colouring. The information incompleteness of the analysed nominations is replenished by lengthening the ergonym with the help of a lexeme – a generic identifier (functional) indicating the profile of an urban object (shop, cafe, pharmacy, bank, etc.).

St. Petersburg as a Place of Belonging: Sticker Artists Inhabit and Imagine the City
In: Space and Culture, S. 120633122110257
ISSN: 1552-8308
The article approaches belonging using the conceptual tool of urban imaginary to demonstrate how a certain place can be represented in different ways, offering different scenarios for the emergence, explanation, and experience of belonging. Urban politics in St. Petersburg and Russia, in general, generate controversial imaginaries of the city and attach different meanings to belonging, forcing street artists to strike a balance between the hegemonic structures of governance and capitalism, local (national) and global (western), rebellion, and dependency, notably, to fulfill their ideas of belonging. Using sticker artists in St. Petersburg, based on ethnographic data, the article shows how young people assimilate several urban imaginaries and, following the logic inherent in each of these, position themselves and their activity in the city. Sticker artists are described as urban agents, who, by participating in place-making and transforming urban space using stickers, find their subjectivity and opportunities to wield microscale power.
