Lucía Sánchez Saornil was the only woman poet who participated in Ultraism, a Spanish Avant-Garde movement of the 1920s that implemented constant thematic and formal experimentation in search of a new language capable of representing modernity and technology. This Spanish-language paper focuses on the impact of cinematography on the Ultraist poetry of Sánchez Saornil. By analyzing two of her poems, "Cines" (1921) and "Domingo" (date unknown), I explain how she utilizes cinematography to 1) to express her experience of modernity and 2) to articulate her relationship with her poetry and the reader. The analysis of these texts and the role of their cinematographic elements reveals Sánchez Saornil's complex attitude towards modernity and the Ultraíst movement: her initial moderate fascination, exemplified by the tone of "Cines," evolved into a deep anxiety over the dehumanizing tendencies of modernity and Ultraism, a preoccupation that pervades the poem "Domingo." She eventually abandoned the techniques of Ultraism and became involved in Spanish left-wing anarchist and feminist movements. Even though she did not fully turn to political activism until the 1930s, Sánchez Saornil always defended sentimental authenticity and vindicated the value of the human being in her poetry. Her unique critical perspective on modernity distinguishes her from her contemporaries and justifies the consideration of her work as an important contribution to Spanish literature.

Abstract
Research suggests that gonadotropin stimulation in in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment affects embryo quality and the endometrium that might influence embryo implantation, placentation and establishment of a viable pregnancy. We assessed the impact of gonadotropin stimulation on implantation, live birth and miscarriage rates per transferred embryo by comparing stimulated and unstimulated IVF treatment. In a cohort of 728 couples, 1310 IVF cycles with successful embryo transfer were analysed; 857 cycles were stimulated with gonadotropins > 75 IU/day (333 poor responder < 4 oocytes; 524 normal responders), and 453 were unstimulated. In total, 1913 fresh cleavage-stage embryos were transferred. Zygote but no embryo selection was performed, and supernumerous zygotes were vitrified. The implantation rate was defined as number of sonographically detected amniotic sacs; live birth rate as number of children born per transferred embryo. Modified mixed effect Poisson regression was used to account for the dependency of cycles and embryos within the same women and the same transfer cycle. Adjustments were made for maternal age, parity, primary or secondary infertility and indication for IVF. Per transferred embryo, implantation rates (rate ratio (RR) 1.37; 95% CI 1.04–1.81; p = 0.028; aRR 1.42; 95% CI 1.10–1.84; p = 0.008) and live birth rates (RR 1.33; 95% CI 0.95–1.86; p = 0.093; aRR 1.38; 95% CI 1.01–1.88; p = 0.044) were higher in NC-IVF compared to cIVF normal responders. Miscarriage did not differ (RR 0.99; 95% CI 0.59–1.65; p = 0.965; aRR 0.90; 95% CI 0.52–1.53 p = 0.698). Similar results were obtained in poor responders. The study suggests an impact of gonadotropin stimulation on the implantation potential of embryos.

Molecular characterization of colorectal cancer has helped us understand better the biology of the disease. However, previous efforts have yet to provide significant clinical value in order to be integrated into clinical practice for patients with early‐stage colon cancer (CC). The purpose of this study was to assess PD‐L1, GLUT‐1, e‐cadherin, MUC2, CDX2, and microsatellite instability (dMMR) and to propose a risk‐panel with prognostic capabilities. Biomarkers were immunohistochemically assessed through tissue microarrays in a cohort of 144 patients with stage II/III colon cancer. A biomarker panel consisting of PD‐L1, GLUT‐1, dMMR, and potentially CDX2 was constructed that divided patients into low, medium, and high risk of overall survival or disease-free survival (DFS) in equally sized groups. Compared with low‐risk patients, medium‐risk patients have almost twice the risk of death (HR = 2.10 (0.99–4.46), p = 0.054), while high‐risk patients have almost four times the risk (HR = 3.79 (1.77–8.11), p = 0.001). The multivariate goodness of fit was 0.756 and was correlated with Kaplan–Meier curves (p = 0.002). Consistent results were found for DFS. This study provides a critical basis for the future development of an immunohistochemical assessment capable of discerning early‐stage CC patients as a function of their prognosis. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a very heterogeneous disease. Efforts to characterize and search for biomarkers for these patients are currently ongoing in the hope of establishing a more targeted therapeutic approach. The role of PD-1 ligand (PD-L1) expression as a biomarker has not yet been fully elucidated. The Consensus Molecular Subtype classification has been delineated, but although already acknowledged in the most recent international guidelines, it has yet to be implemented in clinical practice. We investigate PD-L1 expression as a biomarker of prognosis in the early-stage setting and integrate it with the Consensus Molecular Subtype (CMS), in an effort to differentiate those patients with a worse prognosis who could potentially benefit from an early, more aggressive treatment. Our results suggest PD-L1 as an independent prognostic factor in early stage setting when assessed by immunohistochemistry. Checkpoint with forkhead-associated and ring finger domains (CHFR) has been proposed as a predictive and prognosis biomarker for different tumor types, but its role in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains unknown. The aim of this study was two-pronged: to review the role of CHFR in PDAC and evaluating CHFR as a potential predictive biomarker in this disease. For this purpose, we first explored the CHFR messenger (m)RNA expression and promoter methylation through the TCGA database. Secondly, the CHFR expression and promoter methylation were prospectively evaluated in a cohort of patients diagnosed with borderline (n = 19) or resectable (n = 16) PDAC by immunohistochemistry (IHC), methylation specific-PCR (MSP), and pyrosequencing. The results from the TCGA database showed significant differences in terms of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) based on the CHFR mRNA expression, which was likely independent from the promoter methylation. Importantly, our results showed that in primarily resected patients and also the entire cohort, a higher CHFR expression as indicated by the higher IHC staining intensity might identify patients with longer disease-free survival (DFS) and OS, respectively. Similarly, in the same cohorts, patients with lower methylation levels by pyrosequencing showed significantly longer OS than patients without this pattern. Both, the CHFR expression intensity and its promoter methylation were established as independent prognostic factors for PFS and OS in the entire cohort. In contrast, no significant differences were found between different methylation patterns for CHFR and the response to taxane-based neoadjuvant treatment. Background: improving cancer immunotherapy long-term clinical benefit is a major priority. It has become apparent that multiple axes of immune suppression restrain the capacity of T cells to provide anti-tumour activity including signalling through PD1/PD-L1 and LAG3/MHC-II. Methods: CB213 has been developed as a fully human PD1/LAG3 co-targeting multi-specific Humabody composed of linked VH domains that avidly bind and block PD1 and LAG3 on dual-positive T cells. We present the preclinical primary pharmacology of CB213: biochemistry, cell-based function vs. immune-suppressive targets, induction of T cell proliferation ex vivo using blood obtained from NSCLC patients, and syngeneic mouse model anti-tumour activity. CB213 pharmacokinetics was assessed in cynomolgus macaques. Results: CB213 shows picomolar avidity when simultaneously engaging PD1 and LAG3. Assessing LAG3/MHC-II or PD1/PD-L1 suppression individually, CB213 preferentially counters the LAG3 axis. CB213 showed superior activity vs. αPD1 antibody to induce ex vivo NSCLC patient T cell proliferation and to suppress tumour growth in a syngeneic mouse tumour model, for which both experimental systems possess PD1 and LAG3 suppressive components. Non-human primate PK of CB213 suggests weekly clinical administration.
