AbstractThe horizontal strategy is recommended for the conglomerates by Porter to achieve competitive advantage. There is no established or standard way to execute a horizontal strategy. However, for the execution of a horizontal strategy in an organization, it requires advanced organizational capabilities. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to identify how to implement horizontal strategies in conglomerate firms. In particular, we investigated the extent to which organizational capabilities or competencies were related to the implementation of a horizontal strategy in conglomerate firms. Apart from this, we considered two organizational capabilities as a management control system and leadership styles. In this study, four novel hypotheses addressing primary constructs, that is, the interactive control system, collective, participatory, and transformative, have been explored. The data for this study were drawn from a sample survey of 122 firms in India. In addition, the data were analyzed by correlation, and then multiple regression analysis followed by the results of this analysis helps to identify the influence of leadership styles and interactive control system on horizontal strategy implementation. We argue through a theoretical and statistical analysis that demonstrates that collective, participative, and transformational leadership will contribute to the success of the horizontal strategy and lent good support to our hypotheses. This study helps the company to investigate the perceived role of organizational arrangements in the implementation of a horizontal strategy in conglomerate firms. This was done in an effort to provide guidelines for the effective use of organizational capabilities as drivers of horizontal strategy implementation. The study provides two key contributions in the field of strategic management: The first explicitly identified horizontal strategies are present in conglomerate firms; the other organizational capabilities that play a significant role in the implementation of horizontal strategy.

A citizen-centric approach was used to understand the effectiveness of e-government web portals in India. So, the study aims to find the factors of e-government (i.e., information clarity and appropriateness, relevance & usefulness, information accuracy & completeness, system security, users' privacy, system stability, and interactive services) and their influence on citizen perception, citizen satisfaction, and users' intention. Since the e-government web portal is for the citizen of a country and random sampling is more appropriate. So, our study did the same with a modified scale. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model was applied to show model fit and multiple regression analysis was employed to analyze the final data. The results revealed that the factors of e-government positively impact quality perception, citizen satisfaction, and Users' intention toward e-government. Further, data analysis has enough evidence to say e-government quality perception and citizen satisfaction mediate the relationship between factors of e-government and Users' intention. This investigation outlines how the government designs its e-government portal to enhance citizen satisfaction, citizen perception in terms of e-government quality, and users' intentions.

AbstractThe Company's CEOs are always obsessed with diversification since the early 1960s and this belief is continuing to date. Diversified corporations run multiple businesses to generate various opportunities to gain competitive advantages and differentiate themselves in the market. This study considered the business strategy of business units (BUs) for diversified corporations. Based on the dominating strategy pursued by BUs, this study tried to investigate the level of collaboration between the BUs when these BUs have a similar strategy or different strategy. Thus, this article aims to examine the level of collaboration or coordination between BUs in Indian diversified companies. A survey was carried out with 107 companies for examination and these companies were chosen to be of different sizes and sectors. The findings represent that the level of collaboration is high when the BUs have a similar kind of business strategy while the level of collaboration is low when they have different kinds of business strategies. These findings are useful for the current organizations to seek collaboration between BUs in the diversified corporation.

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to declare an immunization strategy for epidemic spreading based on membership (m) of a node among various communities over a multilayer network. The past few years have seen exponential growth in the understanding and research in modern complex networks field. The mapping of real‐world social interactions to complex networks has opened a new pathway for innovation and research. The real‐world interactions among people take place in various circumstances, and thus, a complex network imitates these interactions using various layers. The events and its information in a real world are incorporated in multiple layers in a network that otherwise are lost due to layer aggregation. The form of interaction captured in a multilayer network can have effects of spreading of a process such as an epidemic. The findings explain the highest membership nodes in one layer, immunizing it and observing the propagation of the epidemic through the layers based on a fraction of overlapped nodes in the network that transmit the disease to various layers. Further, this research paper tried to measure the efficiency of the immunization strategy for epidemic spreading based on membership metric when applied on a multilayer network and henceforth apply them to prevent spreading of the rumor/disease. In this manner, the strategy is more productive to secure the people of the entire system.
