Communal advisory councils on integration have been active in Germany for about forty years. They play an important role in the history of political participation of migrants. But although their role has always been controversial, their number has risen steadily. Also, their role has constantly changed: from expert bodies to a compensation for communal voting rights to being an interest group for migrant communities. Even today the future of these councils is heavily discussed. Councils on integration cannot only play an important role in strengthening the civic engagement of migrants, but also in implementing communal integration policies. But since the comprehension of their roles often remains unclear, their potential all to often lies waste. Adapted from the source document.

(Autorenreferat)

A series of amino alcohols have been prepared in a chemo-, diastereo- and enantioselective fashion starting from the corresponding (het)aryl diketones, avoiding tedious chemical protection and deprotection steps. Different alcohol dehydrogenases have been able to selectively reduce the more reactive trifluoroacetyl groups under optimized conditions, while amine transaminases catalyzed the biotransamination of the less hindered acetyl groups. Based on the different reactivity of the acetyl and trifluoroacetyl groups, the design of sequential and concurrent cascades was investigated. The proper selection of the enzymes permits the synthesis of amino alcohol stereoisomers in high to excellent yields (86->99% conversion) and remarkable stereocontrol (up to >99% de and >99% ee) using an aqueous medium and mild reaction conditions. ; Financial support of this work by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO, CTQ2016-75752-R project) and Asturian Regional Government (FC-GRUPINIDI/2018/000181) are gratefully acknowledged. ; This article consists of a historical review about the First Inter-American Congress of Psychology, which took place in Dominican Republic, in 1953. Such congress was organized by the Interamerican Society of Psychology, founded in 1951. From its foundation the Interamerican Society of Psychology has promoted several scientific meetings, publications, and it has worked to foster the interaction between psychologists in America. The goal of this paper is to examine the historical context of that First Inter-American Congress of Psychology; for this purpose the proceedings of the congress as well as many different documentary sources are analyzed. Basically, it is presented a scenario about the different factors that underlie the organization of the congress, like the social and political motivations, the academic activities developed and the topics that were first proposed and those finally selected. ; Fil: Gallegos de San Vicente, Miguel Omar.
