Naissances, séparations et changements de logement

D'après l'enquête Logement de l'Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques (Insee), réalisée en 2013-2014, la moitié des ménages qui ont eu un enfant au cours des quatre années précédentes a changé de logement sur cette période, et même six ménages sur dix lorsqu'il s'agit du premier enfant. À l'occasion de ce déménagement, les parents d'un jeune enfant ont très souvent amélioré leurs conditions de logement : la moitié des parents d'un jeune enfant ont connu une mobilité « ascendante » en termes de statut d'occupation ou de type de logement. Fin 2013, près d'un ménage mobile sur deux qui a connu l'arrivée d'un enfant est propriétaire, contre un sur six avant celle-ci. Près des deux tiers résident dans une maison, contre un tiers fin 2009. Trois fois sur quatre, ils bénéficient d'au moins une pièce habitable supplémentaire. Parmi les ménages dont l'un des membres a vécu une séparation au cours des quatre années précédant l'enquête, six sur dix ont changé de logement ; c'est encore davantage parmi les femmes, notamment celles sans enfant. Après un déménagement, une personne séparée sur deux a perdu au moins une pièce. Quatre fois sur dix, les personnes séparées ont vécu une mobilité « descendante », perdant soit leur statut de propriétaire, soit le bénéfice de résider dans une maison individuelle.
