This article questions certain of the underlying assumptions about the role of communication in effecting change. For instance, change may occur without communication and vice versa. But in many situations, communication may play a key role in effecting human behavior change, including the behavior that is part of development. The author closes this theoretic work by suggesting ways in which communication theory and research can effect change.
