PurposeThe Open API (application programming interface) architecture will play an important role in promoting future FinTech service applications; however, it involves user data, and the current specialization and progression are less visible. Therefore, an evaluation framework for Open API development in the FinTech service ecosystem is constructed in this study.Design/methodology/approachThis study preliminarily selects the four most important key objects and factors of this ecosystem and conducts expert interviews to revise the evaluation framework. Then, this study uses the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) to evaluate the objects and their factor weights and finally uses the FAHP analysis results to further apply the evaluation based on distance from average solution (EDAS) approach to explore the strategy optimization scenarios.FindingsAccording to the analysis results, the co-creation object and productivity object are the two most significant objects, with weights of 0.275 and 0.272, respectively. The analysis shows that FinTech-related companies expect to increase productivity through co-creation. Finally, the results also indicate that mobile payment is the best Open API application scenario in the FinTech service ecosystem, followed by online banking. These results illustrate strategic and management implications.Originality/valueThis study screens key evaluation criteria with a literature review and expert questionnaire interviews to process quantitative research. It can determine the weights of objectives and criteria to clarify the strength of influence between the objectives and criteria. Next, this study measures the probable performance of Open API applied in various FinTech service ecosystem scenarios.

ABSTRACTMore and more well‐known Internet enterprises, such as Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, are continually involved in the management of microblogging Websites. However, even though their level of awareness is high, they are uncertain how to take their place in the emerging microblogging industry. Therefore, microblogging site proprietors should pay attention to improving the service quality of their Websites to increase the rate of return visits by users. Earlier studies of service quality chiefly used the SERVQUAL scale to address physical service quality. However, the current study focuses on e‐service quality, which is different from physical service quality. Therefore, the E‐S‐QUAL scale and the E‐RecS‐QUAL scale have been chosen as a basis, and interviews with experts have been used to construct a better conceptual framework for e‐service quality. In addition, in the authors' opinion, a certain degree of dependence exists among the aspects and the criteria of importance in this field, and, therefore, the Analytic Network Process (ANP) approach was chosen as the major analytic tool to discuss and analyse the key aspects and the key criteria. The results reveal that the key aspects are Security/Privacy, Empathy and Efficiency; and the key criteria are It does not share my personal information with other sites, It protects my personal information, This site is always available for business, This site makes it easy to find what I need, and Promoting consumers' excitement. Health literacy has been put forward as a potential mechanism explaining the well-documented relationship between education and health. However, little empirical research has been undertaken to explore this hypothesis. The present study aims to study whether health literacy could be a pathway by which level of education affects health status. Health literacy was measured by the Health Activities and Literacy Scale, using data from a subsample of 5,136 adults between the ages of 25 and 65 years, gathered within the context of the 2007 Dutch Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey. Linear regression analyses were used in separate models to estimate the extent to which health literacy mediates educational disparities in self-reported general health, physical health status, and mental health status as measured by the Short Form-12. Health literacy was found to partially mediate the association between low education and low self-reported health status. As such, improving health literacy may be a useful strategy for reducing disparities in health related to education, as health literacy appears to play a role in explaining the underlying mechanism driving the relationship between low level of education and poor health.

The Taiwan government has been promoting Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to primary care physicians. How to extend EHRs adoption rate by measuring physicians' perspective of importance and performance of EHRs has become one of the critical issues for healthcare organizations. We conducted a comprehensive survey in 2010 in which a total of 1034 questionnaires which were distributed to primary care physicians. The project was sponsored by the Department of Health to accelerate the adoption of EHRs. 556 valid responses were analyzed resulting in a valid response rate of 53.77%. The data were analyzed based on a data-centered analytical framework (5-point Likert scale). The mean of importance and satisfaction of four dimensions were 4.16, 3.44 (installation and maintenance), 4.12, 3.51 (product effectiveness), 4.10, 3.31 (system function) and 4.34, 3.70 (customer service) respectively. This study provided a direction to government by focusing on attributes which physicians found important but were dissatisfied with, to close the gap between actual and expected performance of the EHRs. The authorities should emphasize the potential advantages in meaningful use and provide training programs, conferences, technical assistance and incentives to enhance the national level implementation of EHRs for primary physicians.

AbstractSARS-CoV-2 continues to evolve, causing waves of the pandemic. Up to May 2022, 10 million genome sequences have accumulated, which are classified into five major variants of concern. With the growing number of sequenced genomes, analysis of the big dataset has become increasingly challenging. Here we developed systematic approaches based on sets of correlated single nucleotide variations (SNVs) for comprehensive subtyping and pattern recognition of transmission dynamics. The approach outperformed single-SNV and spike-centric scans. Moreover, the derived subtypes elucidate the relationship of signature SNVs and transmission dynamics. We found that different subtypes of the same variant, including Delta and Omicron exhibited distinct temporal trajectories. For example, some Delta and Omicron subtypes did not spread rapidly, while others did. We identified sets of characteristic SNVs that appeared to enhance transmission or decrease efficacy of antibodies for some subtypes. We also identified a set of SNVs that appeared to suppress transmission or increase viral sensitivity to antibodies. For the Omicron variant, the dominant type in the world, we identified the subtypes with enhanced and suppressed transmission in an analysis of eight million genomes as of March 2022 and further confirmed the findings in a later analysis of ten million genomes as of May 2022. While the "enhancer" SNVs exhibited an enriched presence on the spike protein, the "suppressor" SNVs are mainly elsewhere. Disruption of the SNV correlation largely destroyed the enhancer-suppressor phenomena. These results suggest the importance of fine subtyping of variants, and point to potential complex interactions among SNVs.

Disaster medicine education in medical curricula is scarce and frequently nonexistent. It is reasonable to initiate educational approaches for physicians in this field at the medical school level. An understanding of disaster medicine and the health care system during massive casualty incidents has been recommended as an integral part of the medical curriculum in the United States and Germany. The goal of the reformed curriculum was to develop a longitudinal integrated disaster and military medicine education program extending from the first year to the sixth year based on previously separated clinical and military medicine topics. Emergency medicine physicians, military emergency medical technicians, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care instructors formed an interprofessional faculty group and designed a learning curriculum. A total of 230 medical students participated in the revised disaster preparedness curriculum. Satisfaction survey response rates were high (201/230, 87.4%). Most of the free-text comments on the program were highly appreciative. The students considered the number of teaching hours for the whole program to be adequate. The students showed significant improvements in knowledge and judgment regarding disaster medicine after the program. We found that medical students were highly interested, were appreciative of, and actively participated in this longitudinal integrated disaster and military medicine education program, but gaps existed between the students' scores and the educators' expectations. The educators believed that the students needed more disaster preparedness knowledge and skills.

Context:The detection and replication of genes involved in psychiatric outcome has been notoriously difficult. Phenotypic measurement has been offered as one explanation, although most of this discussion has focused on problems with binary diagnoses.Objective:This article focuses on two additional components of phenotypic measurement that deserve further consideration in evaluating genetic associations: (1) the measure used to reflect the outcome of interest, and (2) the developmental stage of the study population. We focus our discussion of these issues around the construct of impulsivity and externalizing disorders, and the association of these measures with a specific gene,GABRA2.Design, Setting, and Participants:Data were analyzed from the Collaborative Study on the Genetics of Alcoholism Phase IV assessment of adolescents and young adults (ages 12–26;N= 2,128).Main Outcome Measures:Alcohol dependence, illicit drug dependence, childhood conduct disorder, and adult antisocial personality disorder symptoms were measured by psychiatric interview; Achenbach youth/adult self-report externalizing scale; Zuckerman Sensation-Seeking scale; Barratt Impulsivity scale; NEO extraversion and consciousness.Results: GABRA2was associated with subclinical levels of externalizing behavior as measured by the Achenbach in both the adolescent and young adult samples. Contrary to previous associations in adult samples, it was not associated with clinical-level DSM symptom counts of any externalizing disorders in these younger samples. There was also association with sensation-seeking and extraversion, but only in the adolescent sample. There was no association with the Barratt impulsivity scale or conscientiousness.Conclusions:Our results suggest that the pathway by whichGABRA2initially confers risk for eventual alcohol problems begins with a predisposition to sensation-seeking early in adolescence. The findings support the heterogeneous nature of impulsivity and demonstrate that both the measure used to assess a construct of interest and the age of the participants can have profound implications for the detection of genetic associations.
