Time and place are central concepts to the dynamic system and phenomenon of fashion. Yet, perhaps for the first time in history, fashion seems to be out of sync with the values, mindsets and wisdom of this time and this place. Despite fashion's claim to be situated in the 'now' or an idealized future, much of what we think and know about clothing from production, design, aesthetics, use and disposal speaks to, and is from, another time and place – the past – when our relationship with and understanding of our place in nature and the earth was markedly different. Western exceptionalism has led to a superiority of thought and action, as we have deemed ourselves to be above and apart from nature. We behave like the planet's resources and capacity are infinite and limitless, ours for the taking. An anthropocentric, reductionist, modernist, colonial, capitalist, materialistic growth logic has ruled our thinking, actions and conception of time and place. It is clear that the construction of this 'place' or system does not consider planetary boundaries or a multiplicity of voices, particularly Indigenous voices. This exploratory design article was conducted through the lens and methodology of Transition Design, and builds on the work of the Earth Logic Fashion Action Research Plan, to acquire new insights to develop a roadmap for change through recommendations for new models, methods and mindsets. As the models of the past have abruptly stopped or been put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic, this article seizes this moment and this place to open new entry points for change. It asks us to deeply examine and reimagine the fashion system as part of nature, a 'whole place' that honours and is conscious of all worldviews and different modalities of time.

Abstract
Fashion is now fast and disposable. The current product–service system for fashion ensures that unwanted items are quickly abandoned in favour of the next shiny new thing. Leaving little time or motivation for consumers to engage, appreciate and articulate oneself through fashion. This activity is destroying the value of clothing both figuratively and literally and is having a huge negative impact on people and planet. This research asks can designers create systems and services that improve and extend the use phase of the person–product relationship and ensure ongoing contentment and fulfilment for the user? The practice-led research projects, Wardrobe Hack and Uncatwalk, encourage everyday user autonomy of clothing from the site of their fashion experience, their own wardrobe. The aim of these projects is to enable the development of alternate ecologies of practice or behaviour for fashion users in the use phase of a garment's life in order to encourage more fulfilling relationships with clothing to address the environmental impact of overconsumption. This practice-based fashion research project and its associated design intervention occur during the 'use' phase of clothing. This is a means of encouraging more sustainable consumer activity through longer-term consideration and connectivity with existing clothing. This is an under-researched stage of the conventional person-product-service relationship, and can be a means of encouraging more sustainable consumer activity.. This is achieved by exploring the viability and potential of a Wardrobe Hack service or courses of actions that enable 'wearers' to share their everyday practices, build competencies and create a space for sustainable fashion product–services and practices to emerge. This research builds on Fletcher's work in the Local Wisdom (2013) project, exploring the emerging field of enriching the fashion user experience in the post-production and post-retail environment. It seeks to create a better integration of clothing and material culture in our lives by proposing alternative roles for designers and consumer to design services for longevity of use practices. These models demonstrate how digital and social media can provide a vehicle for fashion designers to facilitate participatory experiences amongst fashion users. Future research requires a longitudinal study to evaluate the impact from the consumer's perspective.

Purpose: The paper introduces the special issue on improving equitable access to health care through increased public and patient involvement (PPI) in prioritization decisions by discussing the conceptualization, scope and rationales of PPI in priority setting that inform the special issue. Design/Methodology/Approach: The paper employs a mixed-methods approach in that it provides a literature review and a conceptual discussion of the common themes emerging in the field of PPI and health priority setting. Findings: The special issue focuses on public participation that is collective in character, in the sense that the participation relates to a social, not personal, decision and is relevant to whole groups of people and not single individuals. It is aimed at influencing a decision on public policy or legal rules. The rationales for public participation can be found in democratic theory, especially as they relate to the social and political values of legitimacy and representation. Originality/Value: The paper builds on previous definitions of public participation by underlining its collective character. In doing so, it develops the work by Parry, Moyser and Day by arguing that, in light of the empirical evidence presented in this issue, public participatory activities such as protests and demonstrations should no longer be labelled unconventional, but should instead be labelled as 'contestatory participation'. This is to better reflect a situation in which these modes of participation have become more conventional in many parts of the world.

Abstract Background It is well established that health consumer opinions should be considered in the design, delivery, and evaluation of health services. However, the opinions of people with chronic conditions and their carers and what they actually consider as ideal healthcare is limited. The aim of this study is to investigate the healthcare priorities of consumers with chronic conditions and their carers, if there are differences between these two groups, and if priorities differ depending on geographical location. Methods The nominal group technique was used as a method to identify what is currently important to, or valued by, participants. This method was also particularly suited to learning about healthcare problems and generating important solutions, thereby helping to bridge the gap between research and policy. Recruitment was carried out via purposive sampling, with the assistance of community pharmacies, general practices, various health agencies, government and non-government organisations. A total of 11 nominal groups were conducted; five groups consisted predominantly of consumers ( n = 33 participants), two groups consisted predominantly of carers ( n = 12 participants) and four were mixed groups, i.e. consumers, carers, and both ( n = 26 participants). Results The findings suggested that to create a model of ideal healthcare for people with chronic conditions and their carers, appropriate and timely healthcare access was of paramount importance. Continuity and coordinated care, patient-centred care and affordability were equally the second most important healthcare priorities for all groups. When compared with other groups, access was discussed more frequently among participants residing in the rural area of Mount Isa. Compared to consumers, carers also discussed priorities that were more reminiscent with their caring roles, such as increased access and continuity and coordinated care. Conclusions Access to healthcare is the most important priority for people with chronic conditions and their carers. In the event of inappropriate access for certain groups, all other efforts to increase the quality of healthcare delivery, e.g. patient-centred care, may be pointless. However, health professionals alone may be limited in their ability to address the concerns related to healthcare access; structural changes by health policy makers may be needed.

There is growing interest in patient-centered care, but there is little guidance about the interventions required for its delivery and whether it leads to better health outcomes. This systematic review evaluates the efficacy of patient-centered care interventions for people with chronic conditions. Thirty randomized controlled trials were identified from health-related databases. The findings indicated that most interventions were based on the notion of empowering care and included attempts to educate consumers or prompt them about how to manage a health consultation. Other common interventions focused on training providers in delivering empowering care. Although it was difficult to draw firm conclusions because of the moderate to high risk of bias of the research designs, this review has shown some promising findings from implementing a patient-centered care approach. There appeared to be benefits associated with this model of care in terms of patient satisfaction and perceived quality of care.

Background Identifying the housing preferences of people with complex disabilities is a much needed, but under-developed area of practice and scholarship. Despite the recognition that housing is a social determinant of health and quality of life, there is an absence of empirical methodologies that can practically and systematically involve consumers in this complex service delivery and housing design market. A rigorous process for making effective and consistent development decisions is needed to ensure resources are used effectively and the needs of consumers with complex disability are properly met. Methods/Design This 3-year project aims to identify how the public and private housing market in Australia can better respond to the needs of people with complex disabilities whilst simultaneously achieving key corporate objectives. First, using the Customer Relationship Management framework, qualitative (Nominal Group Technique) and quantitative (Discrete Choice Experiment) methods will be used to quantify the housing preferences of consumers and their carers. A systematic mixed-method, quasi-experimental design will then be used to quantify the development priorities of other key stakeholders (e.g., architects, developers, Government housing services etc.) in relation to inclusive housing for people with complex disabilities. Stakeholders randomly assigned to Group 1 (experimental group) will participate in a series of focus groups employing Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) methodology. Stakeholders randomly assigned to Group 2 (control group) will participate in focus groups employing existing decision making processes to inclusive housing development (e.g., Risk, Opportunity, Cost, Benefit considerations). Using comparative stakeholder analysis, this research design will enable the AHP methodology (a proposed tool to guide inclusive housing development decisions) to be tested. Discussion It is anticipated that the findings of this study will enable stakeholders to incorporate consumer housing preferences into commercial decisions. Housing designers and developers will benefit from the creation of a parsimonious set of consumer-led housing preferences by which to make informed investments in future housing and contribute to future housing policy. The research design has not been applied in the Australian research context or elsewhere, and will provide a much needed blueprint for market investment to develop viable, consumer directed inclusive housing options for people with complex disability.

Taxation has been suggested as a possible preventive strategy to address the serious public health concern of childhood obesity. Understanding the public's viewpoint on the potential role of taxation is vital to inform policy decisions if they are to be acceptable to the wider community. A Citizens' Jury is a deliberative method for engaging the public in decision making and can assist in setting policy agendas. A Citizens' Jury was conducted in Brisbane, Australia in May 2013 to answer the question: Is taxation on food and drinks an acceptable strategy to the public in order to reduce rates of childhood obesity? Citizens were randomly selected from the electoral roll and invited to participate. Thirteen members were purposively sampled from those expressing interest to broadly reflect the diversity of the Australian public. Over two days, participants were presented with evidence on the topic by experts, were able to question witnesses and deliberate on the evidence. The jurors unanimously supported taxation on sugar-sweetened drinks but generally did not support taxation on processed meats, snack foods and foods eaten/ purchased outside the home. They also supported taxation on snack foods on the condition that traffic light labelling was also introduced. Though they were not specifically asked to deliberate strategies outside of taxation, the jurors strongly recommended more nutritional information on all food packaging using the traffic light and teaspoon labelling systems for sugar, salt and fat content. The Citizens' Jury suggests that the general public may support taxation on sugar-sweetened drinks to reduce rates of obesity in children. Regulatory reforms of taxation on sugar-sweetened drinks and improved labelling of nutritional information on product packaging were strongly supported by all members of the jury. These reforms should be considered by governments to prevent childhood obesity and the future burden on society from the consequences of obesity.
