The increased globalization has given rise to many new opportunities for companies to conduct their business. Companies reach out, far beyond the boundaries of their home state. However, conducting business abroad leads to a plethora of tax rules which a company should take into account. They are no longer limited to the tax legislation of their home state, but the companies should also adhere to the tax laws applicable in the state where they conduct their business. This may lead to the undesired effect of double taxation. In order to prevent this effect, many countries have signed tax treaties through which they allocate taxing. The interface of a variety of domestic legislations and tax treaties leads to higher compliance costs to companies, but many companies have been able to utilize the rules to severely limit their tax liability.

The history of the Taiwan Stock Exchange in the past seven years indicates that the Nationalist government has attempted to achieve a sound securities market for capital formation of the national economy. However, the performance of the TSE in the past seven years cannot be regarded as being successful. The meaning and significance of each important policy change and the effect of government measures aiming to the fulfillment of the policy are major concerns of this thesis. Analyses of historical events are treated so that they will vividly reflect intentions of government policies. Causes and results of each event are fully explored. Evaluation of government policies is conducted in the context of the national economy. Thus, the merits or demerits of each government policy and its success or failure is judged from the viewpoint of whether or not it contributed to the accumulation of capital for the national economy. Exploration of institutional problems in the sphere of the securities market is done with Taiwan's special background in mind. Comparisons of the Taiwan Stock Exchange with the New York Stock Exchange are made whenever it is possible. As a result of this study, some suggestions are made to the policymakers for future reference.

With the decline of the big industrial period, many industrial cities in China are facing the problem of urban transformation. Post-industrial economic activities and social life often replace the demand for land and population growth, and the particular type of cultural heritage of industrial heritage is often abandoned and decayed. Recent domestic and foreign research has responded to this problem and sought to provide solutions for the protection and reuse of industrial heritage. Despite some progress, the advice and feelings of ordinary citizens are often rarely considered, or how local urban characteristics become the core of urban reconstruction. To solve this problem, the focus of this study is the case study of Pingdingshan City. Pingdingshan is an industrial city with coal as its core industry. Shortly, the problem of industrial heritage will be a severe problem facing the city. The study included research designs and methods for collecting data from field observations, questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. In the process, researchers have critically considered the importance and implications of public participation in exploring the way in which they are protected and reused through the protection and reuse of industrial heritage. It is particularly worth mentioning that in the reconstruction of the protection and reuse of industrial heritage in Pingdingshan, government officials and enterprises lack sensitivity to local conditions and the views of residents. The study concluded that the protection and reuse of industrial heritage require public participation and that the public's demands can guide and determine the way industrial heritage is protected and reused.

Purpose– This study focuses on the relationship between knowledge sharing and knowledge effectiveness. By learning orientation and co-production, this study demonstrates the indirect effects of knowledge sharing on knowledge effectiveness. Moreover, the direct and indirect effects of knowledge sharing – which vary with the different levels of tacit knowledge – on knowledge effectiveness are examined.Design/methodology/approach– The proposed model is tested using a structural equation model that involves LISREL and multi-group analyses.Findings– Knowledge sharing increasingly affects knowledge effectiveness under the condition of explicit knowledge. The mediating roles of learning orientation and co-production in the process of tacit knowledge sharing become apparent.Originality/value– Knowledge sharing across organizations can be regarded as a dynamic process. In view of the increasing importance of knowledge sharing across organizations, this study provides insight into the method of receiving useful knowledge across organizations.
