Multi-signal detection is of great significance in civil and military fields, such as cognitive radio (CR), spectrum monitoring, and signal reconnaissance, which refers to jointly detecting the presence of multiple signals in the observed frequency band, as well as estimating their carrier frequencies and bandwidths. In this work, a deep learning-based framework named SigdetNet is proposed, which takes the power spectrum as the network's input to localize the spectral locations of the signals. In the proposed framework, Welch's periodogram is applied to reduce the variance in the power spectral density (PSD), followed by logarithmic transformation for signal enhancement. In particular, an encoder-decoder network with the embedding pyramid pooling module is constructed, aiming to extract multi-scale features relevant to signal detection. The influence of the frequency resolution, network architecture, and loss function on the detection performance is investigated. Extensive simulations are carried out to demonstrate that the proposed multi-signal detection method can achieve better performance than the other benchmark schemes.

There is a generalized global market trend that tourists and consumers tend to pursue "themed" experiences closely related to their preferences or specific purposes. In the accommodation sector, the concept of "themed" is reflected by various theme hotels such as green hotels, family hotels, E-sports hotels, etc. In the era of Web 2.0, online information has been testified to be one of the most effective data sources for understanding customers and developing relative marketing strategies. Therefore, this research examined online customer reviews with both quantitative and qualitative methods to extract a range of variables reflecting customers' experiences, and then, to explore their contribution to customers' satisfaction/dissatisfaction with theme hotels; to understand theme hotels and develop novel insights for the industry, with new data sources. Moreover, a cross-cultural perspective was applied to examine the differences among different markets, so that more specific and targeted marketing strategies could be developed to develop and promote theme hotels. As a result, different clusters reflecting customers' understanding of two areas have been applied. In addition, it was demonstrated that the connection between customer experience and satisfaction can be utilized to distinguish the differences between the two areas.

In the field of urban morphology, there is a lot of understanding of how cities have evolved over time by descriptive and deductive approach. Recently, some studies introduce more rigorous quantification method and link such types to their performance though developing and testing urban types, and a few convincing conclusions achieved in European cities. However, whether this is suitable for Chinese cities with different development processes and different political and cultural issues. This study uses the similar approach to get a better understanding of relationship between street configuration and people's aggregation in Nanjing--a typical Chinese mega-city. There are two parts in this study. The first part is to generate urban types based on integration from space syntax and cluster analysis, because it has been proven to provide reliable and efficient. The second part is to test the types developed from first part. Density of surrounding block is obtained by measuring FSI and GSI, which it captures how spatial form structures people and things. People's aggregation in the space and time dimensions use telecom data for wide coverage. This study found that the types are robust based on cluster analysis. The types were able to explain the intensity of aggregation well and the trend of type is consistent with that of FSI and GSI.

Children's mobility environment is an ignored topic in discussions of sustainable urbanisation in the Global South. This study explores the independent mobility of children from ages 7 to 15 in Dhaka—reportedly the world's densest urban conglomeration. Surveys and interviews of children ( n = 308) and their parents were conducted in eight schools in Dhaka, located in three strategically selected residential areas. Children's independent mobility (CIM) was then analysed with reference to relevant themes across social profiles of children. The results depict the current state of CIM in Dhaka: 59 per cent of the children experienced a low degree of CIM from school to home. The degree of CIM varied noticeably across study areas, income groups, age and gender groups. The presence of cars in streets was identified as an important barrier for CIM by both children and parents. These results could inform policymakers, transportation planners and urban advocates focussing on creating an inclusive and child-friendly urban environment.
