In Poland, a characteristic feature of live pig production is its dispersion. The purpose of the article is to present the current level of concentration of pig producers and pig population, as well as structural changes that have taken place after Poland's accession to the European Union. The reference point for the degree of concentration in Poland is the degree of concentration of producers and livestock numbers in countries such as Denmark or Germany. These countries were included in the production and export of pigs and pig meat due to their position. The analysis confirms that despite the progress in concentration, both the structure of producers and the population are still fragmented. In 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development took the initiative to create an electronic sales platform under the name "Food Platform". One of the goals of its establishment is to strengthen the position of farmers, who are the weakest link in the supply chain. The point is that trading on the Food Platform would bring benefits not only to large companies, but also to small entities that face difficulties to operating independently on the market. One of the products recommended for trade on the Food Platform is red meat (pork and beef) and products from this meat (Szczepaniak, Ambroziak and Drożdż, 2019). Although trade in pork half-carcases is foreseen further (wheat is to be the pilot product) and in addition will be based on transactions between slaughterhouses and processing plants, the fragmentation of production in question will have an impact on this turnover. The turnover on the platform, in turn, may affect the position of farmers. The trade may require joint (group) action of producers, and perhaps also the proper organization of the trade on the part of the platform. ; W Polsce charakterystyczną cechą produkcji żywca wieprzowego jest jej rozdrobnienie. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie aktualnego stopnia koncentracji producentów trzody i pogłowia trzody, a także zmian strukturalnych w tym zakresie, jakie nastąpiły po przystąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Punktem odniesieniem są identyczne parametry w takich krajach, jak Dania czy Niemcy. Kraje te uwzględniono ze względu na ich pozycję w produkcji i eksporcie mięsa wieprzowego oraz jego przetworów. Przeprowadzona analiza potwierdza, że pomimo postępu w zakresie koncentracji, zarówno struktura producentów, jak i pogłowie są nadal rozdrobnione. W 2018 r. Ministerstwo Rolnictwa i Rozwoju Wsi podjęło inicjatywę stworzenia elektronicznej platformy sprzedażowej pod nazwą "Platforma Żywnościowa". Jednym z celów jej powołania jest wzmocnienie pozycji rolników będących najsłabszym ogniwem w łańcuchu dostaw. Chodzi o to, by handel na Platformie Żywnościowej przynosił korzyści nie tylko dużym firmom, ale także małym podmiotom, którym trudno jest działać samodzielnie na rynku. Jednym z produktów rekomendowanych do wymiany handlowej na Platformie Żywnościowej jest mięso czerwone (wieprzowe i wołowe) oraz produkty z tego mięsa (Szczepaniak, Ambroziak i Drożdż, 2019). Wprawdzie handel półtuszami wieprzowymi przewidziany jest w dalszej kolejności (produktem pilotażowym ma być pszenica) i w dodatku będzie opierał się o transakcje między ubojniami a zakładami przetwórczymi, to jednak rozdrobnienie produkcji, o jakim mowa, będzie miało wpływ na te obroty. Obroty na Platformie mogą z kolei mieć wpływ na pozycję rolników. Handel ten może wymagać wspólnego (grupowego) działania producentów, a być może także odpowiedniej organizacji tego handlu ze strony Platformy.

Pig production is subject to fluctuations due to the pig cycle. These fluctuations cause that the supply of pork is either excessively high or too low in relation to a given demand assumed on the ceteris paribus principle. In the former case, the prices of pork, especially livestock, are high, and in the latter, they are low. As a result, the revenue of agricultural producers changes accordingly. It can be assumed that the negative revenue effects of the decrease in purchase prices are compensated by the positive effects of higher sales of porkers. Therefore, it is assumed that the volatility of revenues should be lower than that of both components. The purpose of this article is to verify this view, which can be regarded as a hypothesis. To be more exact, the paper attempts to answer the question whether there is volatility or relative stability of revenues in the pig market. This issue is important not only for the producers, but also for the agricultural policy. Using simple statistical methods, the authors evaluate the variability of revenues between 2005 and 2020, i.e. after Poland's accession to the European Union. Recognizing that this was not a homogeneous period, the research also involved the revenues in two sub-periods, i.e. 2005-2012 and 2013-2020. The adopted assumption and the research hypothesis about the relative stability of revenue due to a certain interchangeability of the price level and the purchase volume were only quite incomplete for the period 2005-2012. For period 2013-2020, the analysis of charts, coefficients of variation and correlation gave different results that did not allow for confirming the assumption and hypothesis. ; Produkcja trzody chlewnej podlega wahaniom wynikającym z cyklu świńskiego. Wahania te powodują, że podaż wieprzowiny jest bądź nadmiernie wysoka, bądź zbyt niska w stosunku do danego popytu przyjmowanego na zasadzie ceteris paribus. W pierwszym przypadku ceny wieprzowiny, a zwłaszcza żywca wieprzowego są wysokie, a w drugim niskie. W rezultacie zmieniają się odpowiednio przychody producentów rolnych. Można przyjąć, iż ujemne skutki przychodowe spadku cen skupu są kompensowane przez dodatnie z tytułu większej sprzedaży tuczników. Dlatego uznaje się, że zmienność przychodów powinna być mniejsza niż obu składowych. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest weryfikacja tego poglądu, co można uznać za hipotezę. W szczególności chodzi o odpowiedź na pytanie, czy na rynku trzody chlewnej mamy do czynienia ze zmiennością czy względną stabilnością przychodów. Kwestia ta jest istotna nie tylko dla samych producentów, ale także dla polityki rolnej. Posługując się prostymi metodami statystycznymi, dokonano oceny zmienności przychodów w latach 2005-2020, czyli po przystąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Uznawszy, że nie był to okres jednorodny, przychody oceniono także w dwóch podokresach tych lat, czyli 2005-2012 i 2013-2020. Stwierdzono, że przyjęte założenie i hipoteza badawcza o względnej stabilności przychodów w związku z pewną przemiennością poziomu ceny i wielkości skupu znalazły jedynie dość niepełne potwierdzenie dla okresu lat 2005-2012. Dla okresu 2013-2020 analiza wykresów, współczynników zmienności oraz korelacji dała inne wyniki, które nie pozwalały na potwierdzenie założenia i hipotezy.

The aim of this article is to assess the impact of production potential on the income obtained by agricultural holdings in Poland. The Farm Accountancy Data Network FADN data from 2015 was used to achieve this aim. Empirical verification of factors determining the production potential and their impact on agricultural holding income was carried out using the logistic regression model. The dependent variable was taken to be the probability that the agricultural holding would achieve annual family farm income exceeding the median value of PLN 46149,18. It was established that four variables had a statistically significant positive effect on the studied phenomenon: area of agricultural land, share of leased land in the agricultural land area, total labor expenditure and technical labor infrastructure. This means that an increase in the level of these factors increases the probability of obtaining an above median value of income by agricultural holdings.
