This preliminary study investigates beginning college Chinese heritage language learners
(CHLLs)' implicit knowledge of compound sentences with pairs of correlatives. Drawing on Valdés's (2005) categorization of HLLs as L1 speakers and HLLs as L1/L2 users, the study examines CHLLs' ability to comprehend compound sentences with pairs of correlatives, as well as their comprehension level as compared to native Chinese language speakers and Chinese foreign language learners (CFLLs). The study also examines the characteristics of CHLLs' implicit knowledge of compound sentences. The data was collected using an acceptability judgment task. The CHL subjects' overall performance was somewhere between that of native speakers and CFLLs who had studied Chinese for two years. Their performance shows that their comprehension of compound sentences acquired before the onset of learning English at the age of 4 or 5 was retained and even somewhat developed. This is because CHL subjects still received some amount of input from home and community Chinese schools even though they favored English over Chinese. The findings on CHLLs' linguistic habitus can inform and frame CHLLappropriate pedagogies that exploit their implicit knowledge and systematically build on it.

This study investigated the association between self-esteem and problematic smartphone use, and examined the mediating role of aggressiveness. The sample comprised 167 college students. The results indicated that explicit, but not implicit, self-esteem was negatively correlated with
problematic smartphone use. Further, aggressiveness mediated the link between explicit selfesteem and problematic smartphone use. These findings may help scholars to develop interventions to reduce problematic smartphone use among individuals with low explicit self-esteem.

AbstractThe industrial robot is an essential part of modern manufacturing. Using micro‐level data, this study investigates the effects of industrial robots on the labour market in China. The results show that the adoption of industrial robots increases firm‐level employment by 31.65%. Using the Bartik method, we construct robot penetration as an instrumental variable of robot adoption to tackle endogenous problems. Our results stand up to a series of robustness checks. Moreover, the effects of robots are mainly owing to the expansion of the output scale, increased productivity, and upgraded products. We also find the skill‐biased impact of robots and the spillover effect of industrial robots through production networks.

The path planning of anti-ship missile should be considered both cruising in safety and striking in quick, which is an intractable problem. In particular, it is difficult to consider the safety of each missile path in the path planning of multiple missiles. To solve this problem, the "AREA Algorithm" is presented to divide the relative relations of areas:relative security area of the threat areas and fast-attack area of target approaching. Specifically,it is a way to achieve area division through the relationship between the target and the center of the operational area. The Voronoi diagram topology network, Dijkstra algorithm and binary tree algorithm have been used in the above process as well. Finally, Simulations have verified the feasibility and obvious advantages of "AREA Algorithm" compared with the single algorithm, and the tactical meaning in path planning of multiple missiles.

The ownership restructuring of Chinese state-owned enterprises, launched in 1992, has been one of the most radical and far-reaching market-oriented reforms in the Chinese economy. We studied the effects of ownership reform and individuals' collectivist values on rewards-allocation preferences of employees in Chinese state-owned enterprises, and how these relationships were mediated by employees' productivity goal orientation. We predicted the effects of ownership reform and collectivism on rewards-allocation preferences based on the model of allocation goal priority and the conceptual distinctions of vertical and horizontal collectivism. With data from four pairs of public state-owned enterprises (i.e., listed on the stock market) versus pure state-owned enterprises, we found the following results. First, employees of enterprises that had experienced a greater degree of ownership reform expressed stronger preferences for differential allocation rules (e.g., job position and performance) but weaker preferences for equalitarian allocation rules (e.g., group and individual equality). Second, vertical collectivism was positively related to preferences for differential allocation rules, but horizontal collectivism was positively related to preferences for equalitarian allocation rules. Third, the effects of both ownership reform and vertical collectivism on differential allocation preferences were mediated by productivity goal orientation. Research and practical implications for ownership reform and vertical-horizontal collectivism are discussed.

This study first analyzes how local governments' land-leasing behaviors affect Chinese cities' debt risk then examines the impact of officials' promotion mechanisms on debt risk in China's urban land bank system. The land-leasing behavior is reflected through three indicators, namely, land-leasing revenue, land-leasing scale, and land financial dependence level. Two new indicators are constructed to measure the local government' debt risk from the perspective of debt scale and debt repayment: the debt scale risk and debt burden risk. Empirical analyses are based on the data of 281 prefecture-level cities from 2006–2015. The main findings are twofold. First, the debt scale risk is positively affected by the land-leasing revenue, and officials' promotion pressure. The debt burden risk is positively affected by the land financial dependence and officials' promotion pressure. Second, the officials' promotion pressure significantly enhances the positive effect of land-leasing revenue on the debt scale risk. Local officials, who are under promotion pressure, are inclined to expand the size of urban investment bonds, which increases debt scale risk.

BACKGROUND: Although congenital heart defect (CHD) was the dominating birth defect, the time trend analysis of CHD was largely unknown. In our study, the time trend analysis of CHD from 2005 to 2020 in Jinan was conducted, aimed to reveal the epidemiological characteristics in a city and provided the data basis for the government to make a policy intervention. METHODS: A multi-institutional and retrospective review of CHD for all births from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2020 was performed. Proportioner prevalence was used to describe the distribution of CHD. Comparisons of CHD characteristics among different groups were assessed with Chi-squares tests. Cochran-Armitage tests (CAT) were used to track changes in CHD prevalence. RESULTS: About 322,374 births and 5,180 CHD in Jinan were included from 2005 to 2020, and the total CHD prevalence was 3.92 per 1,000 births. The CHD prevalence showed an upward trend, with a total increase of 227.66% from 2005 to 2020. The CHD prevalence in urban areas was 34.17% higher than that in rural areas, but the gap was narrowing. Atrial septal defect (3.07 per 1,000 births), patent ductus arteriosus (1.62 per 1,000 births), ventricular septal defect (1.18 per 1,000 births), tetralogy of Fallot (0.62 per 1,000 births), and atrioventricular septal defect (0.47 per 1,000 births) were the 5 most common subtypes. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of CHD in Jinan was gradually on the rise, which needs to be highly focused on by the health management department. Older pregnant women and women in rural areas should be concerned, and targeted measures need to be introduced.
