Bryan Palmer in RRPE 7:2 suggests that Frederick W. Taylor's sys tem of management was never universally applied Palmer supports his assertion with an extensive review of concrete history In so doing he minimizes Taylorism as a gen eral system of management. The writer of the present note extends Palmer's work by comparing levels of generality He describes Taylorism as a general set of principles which are applied differently in each concrete corporate situation.
