In general the Netherlands is performing relatively well in terms of combatting trafficking in human beings (THB). Yet, the Dutch government still needs to make considerable effort to address the demand-side of THB and to take action in relation to forms of exploitation outside the sex industry.While generally attention for labour exploitation is on the increase, sector-specific attention is still required. The domestic work sector has been considered a risk sector for exploitation since 2008, yet attention for this sector remains scarce. Because the work takes place in the private household, domestic workers are in a vulnerable and isolated position and are therefore in need of specific attention to avoid exploitation. At the same time, the fact that the work takes place in the private realm and that the group of domestic workers is diverse poses serious challenges for the Dutch Government to tackle this particular form of labour exploitation. This report seeks to provide general insight into THB in DW in the Netherlands with special attention for demand side aspects, in order propose recommendations to the Dutch Government how it could step up its efforts to tackle THB in DW. ; This project has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration under Grant Agreement No. 612869.

This article discusses a rapid assessment of risks and gaps in the anti-trafficking response, related to the prevention of human trafficking of refugees from Ukraine in the immediate aftermath of the start of the war (March-April 2022). For this assessment numerous actors have been
interviewed from Ukraine and neighbouring countries and a study visit has been organized to Poland in April 2022. This assessment reviews the trafficking risks (and at risk groups) related to the outflow of Ukrainian refugees in Eastern and Central Europe, the extent to which these risks are
being addressed by the agencies involved in the humanitarian response and the identification of the possible roles for anti-trafficking organizations. To address the gaps and needs that are identified in the anti-trafficking response in Ukraine and neigbouring countries (Poland, Romania, Moldova,
Hungary and Slovakia) several recommendations are made, addressing governments/international organisations, anti-trafficking NGOs and donors, to (I) reduce the vulnerabilities to human trafficking; (ii) to ensure the identification of trafficked persons and accountability of perpetrators;
and (iii) to ensure adequate referral and assistance to trafficked persons.

On 4 February 2021, the ICC's Trial Chamber IX found Lord Resistance Army's Commander Dominic Ongwen guilty for a total of 61 crimes comprising crimes against humanity and war crimes, including many conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence crimes, committed in Northern Uganda
between 1 July 2002 and 31 December 2005. On 6 May 2021, Dominic Ongwen was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for these crimes.<br/> In this Q&A we discuss this case with three renowned experts, namely Victoria Nyanjura (Survivor, Founder Women in Action for Women Uganda), Joseph
Manoba (lawyer and Legal Representative for victims in the Ongwen case) and Lorraine Smith van Lin (independent victim's rights expert). By answering 11 questions, they provide insight in the complexity of this case, including how it is perceived by LRA victims and survivors in Uganda.

This article offers a brief background to the crimes of human trafficking, slavery and the slave trade which often take place in and as a result of conflict situations, such as in Ukraine. These crimes are, however, often conflated and misunderstood: not only by the general public,
but also by professionals working in this field. Even though these crimes are commonly conflated, each crime has specific requirements or elements, and address egregious conduct.Their legal histories and policy base are distinct yet complementary. Their dual juridical availability could provide
meaningful, effective redress for women and men, both adult and child survivors. The article intends to contribute to untying the knots, to disentangle the misconceptions of human trafficking from the slave trade and slavery.The endeavour is not theoretical, but practical. It is done to fortify
the pursuit of human trafficking as a transnational crime and the slave trade and slavery as international crimes. In short, this article aims to explore, distinguish, and harmonise the available jurisdictions for human trafficking, slavery and the slave trade.
