This article asks about the current modes of production in human rights research and how they are (or may be) determined by the structures where that knowledge is generated. These questions will be answered by looking at the results of a preliminary study on the reception and subsequent institutionalisation of studies on human rights in stable structures that are dedicated to their research, training and dissemination in Spanish universities. The starting hypothesis is that this institutionalisation causes conceptual, epistemological and methodological biases in the rationales for knowledge construction in the field of human rights that determine and hinder the interdisciplinary approach demanded by its study. Interdisciplinarity has become a dominant aspect of human rights research. The question about how this feature is articulated and who articulates it in the academic institutional framework is pertinent in a field of knowledge that cannot avoid asymmetries in the production and circulation of knowledge. The results show that human rights research has been mainly institutionalised in stable university structures in Spain within the field of legal sciences, with a clear predominance of the area of the Philosophy of Law. It can be concluded that this has been conditioned by the reception and subsequent development of the study of human rights in Spain. While it has been found that the line developed by these centres and research groups has been consolidated and recognised, it can also be confirmed that their modes of knowledge production do not match the rationale of interdisciplinary research. These limitations are not just endogenous. There are some features of Spanish institutional R&D&i culture that make interdisciplinary research on human rights difficult.

The aim of this article is to analyze the concept of responsibility and its institutionalization processes promoted by the Jesuit universities, emphasizing their uniqueness and value compared to other models and strategies of university social responsibility. This responsibility approach is rooted in a notion of justice conceived in global terms and based on solidarity and that, without rejecting it, highlights the inadequacy of the approach to responsibility as an obligation. Its emphasis is directed towards a shared political responsibility that aspires to transform structural injustices. This is one of the distinctive features of the Identity and Mission of Jesuit universities that define their social status. The article outlines this proposal of responsibility embodied in the social field and examines its distinguishing character compared with other proposals promoted by the universities to define their commitment to the environment. ; El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el concepto de responsabilidad y los procesos para su institucionalización promovidos por las universidades jesuitas subrayando su singularidad y valor frente a otros modelos y estrategias de responsabilidad social universitaria. Ese enfoque de responsabilidad está cimentado en una noción de justicia pensada en términos globales y fundada en la solidaridad, que pone de manifiesto la insuficiencia del enfoque de la responsabilidad como obligación. Su énfasis lo dirige hacia una responsabilidad política compartida que aspira a la transformación de las injusticias estructurales. Este es uno de los rasgos propios de la Identidad y Misión de las universidades jesuitas. En el artículo se identifican los contornos de esa propuesta de responsabilidad encarnada en el ámbito social y se examina su carácter diferenciador frente a otras propuestas impulsadas desde las universidades para definir su compromiso con el entorno.

Este artículo ofrece una lectura ética de la responsabilidad, aplicada a las organizaciones de la esfera económica de nuestras sociedades. Teniendo como marco de referencia la actual situación de crisis y las medidas que se están planteando de manera general para hacerle frente, en este trabajo se cuestiona críticamente el protagonismo otorgado a la responsabilidad en ese escenario y subraya las debilidades de su vertiente hegemónica. A partir de aquí,el texto recoge una llamada a rescatar otros rostros de la responsabilidad que tienen mayor entidad ética y exigen mayor densidad política, y propone recuperar el valor edificante de la responsabilidad, que llama y nos obliga a todos a cuidar la sociedad que todos componemos. La eficacia o adecuación de las distintas políticas, estrategias y herramientas para la promoción de la responsabilidad social deben responder a los retos que este valor edificante de la responsabilidad propone. ; This article offers an ethical reading of responsibility applied to organisations in the economic sphere of our societies. Having the current crisis situation and the measures which are generally being put forward to confront it as its frame of reference, this work critically questions the protagonism given to responsibility in that scenario and underlines the weaknesses of its hegemony. From here, the text includes a call to rescue other aspects of responsibility which are more ethical and demand greater political density, and proposes recovering the edifying value of responsibility, which calls and obliges everybody to take care of the society we are part of. The effectiveness or suitability of the different policies, strategies and tools for promoting social responsibility must respond to the challenges that the edifying value of responsibility proposes. ; Este artigo ofrece unha lectura ética da responsabilidade aplicada ás organizacións da esfera económica das nosas sociedades. Tendo como marco de referencia a actual situación de crise e as medidas que se están a formular de xeito xeral para facerlle fronte, neste traballo cuestiónase criticamente o protagonismo outorgado á responsabilidade neste escenario e subliña as debilidades da súa vertente hexemónica. A partir de aquí, recóllese unha chamada ao rescate doutros rostros da responsabilidade que teñen maior entidade ética e esixen unha maior densidade política, e proponse recuperar o valor edificante da responsabilidade, que chama e que nos obriga a todas as persoas a coidar a sociedade que compoñemos. A eficacia ou a adecuación das distintas políticas, estratexias e ferramentas para a promoción da responsabilidade social deben responder aos retos que este valor edificante da responsabilidade implica.

This article analyses the situation of solidarity economy in Mexico. The work is structured in five sections in which the reality of these economic alternatives, which aspire to become effective tools to fight against poverty and exclusion, is examined from different analytical axes that provide knowledge about their different conceptual and practical approaches; on the legal framework that protects it in Mexico and the public resources assigned for its promotion, as well as the potential and limitations that the network of solidarity economy has in Mexico. This article offers a reflection about the value and relevance of ethical banking in the actual economic context and outlines the pillars on which those initiatives are based. The approach is based on the consideration of the place that credit has in our societies, as the key factor to understand the social impact of the financial intermediation. The analysis focuses on the human rights perspective and leads todescribe the processes that ground the ethical banking initiatives that promote the right to credit, underlying its status as a tool for political action, as collective action networks committed to social transformation. ; Este artículo analiza el valor y relevancia de la banca ética en el contexto económico actual y describe los pilares sobre los que se sustentan estas iniciativas. Se parte de una reflexión sobre el lugar del crédito en nuestras sociedades como clave para entender el impacto social de la intermediación financiera. El análisis se realiza desdeel enfoque de los derechos humanos y conduce a describir los procesos de articulación de las iniciativas de banca ética que promueven el derecho al crédito, resaltando su condición de herramientas de acción política, como redes de acción colectivacomprometidas con la transformación social.

PurposeBizkaia, an area of just over one million inhabitants, is the setting, through the xertatu project, of an experience for fostering corporate social responsibility (CSR). This document seeks to analyze the xertatu project as a local response to a new form of governance, identifying the lessons learned in its development.Design/methodology/approachThis paper focuses its analysis on a clear understanding of the need to combine not only the activities of the various organizations operating in this field in Bizkaia, but also the intentions of the agents involved, in order to shed light on the shared responsibility business has with society at large in this region.FindingsThe aggregation of agents, interests and capabilities, together with a methodology of research – collective action, is suitable for fostering social responsibility in companies.Originality/valueThe analysis of CSR as a new understanding of the role of business in collaborative governance, that is, as an active agent of an enabling governing style that furthermore assumes its joint responsibility with all the other agents for social cohesion and development, usually tends to lack a local and regional perspective and, therefore, the schemes that favor its implementation, whereby it could become a testing ground and benchmark for other regions.
