This article reconstructs the change made by Habermas from exclusive secularism years before 1989 to his vision of a post-secular society, defended primarily in a series of works from the last ten years. The author argues that, despite this significant change, Habermas's conception remains, in the philosophical level, a questionable tax secularist vision imprinting Kantian reason. From the perspective of sociological theory, Habermas's vision is problematic because it projects a new type of society for something that is at best a minority phenomenon, specifically religious content translation to secular content through a rational dialogue between citizens. Unlike this Kantian and hyperbolic vision of a "post-secular society", the author suggests an idea less rationalistic and more nuanced interactions between discursive and non-discursive religious practice and democratic practice. After more than 20 years of a gradual but cumulative dismantling of the resources that the State had available to channel & promote development, the author of this text intends to compare the perspective that Mexican & Korean elites have on this issue, as the latter's contribution has been without doubt more successful, & also to contrast both elites' strategies in face of the withdrawal of the State. In particular, the author asks: Why is it that Korean & Mexican large firms, while having so much in common ?at least until the 1980s?, had such a different impact on their respective economies? Why do Mexican groups grow at spectacular rates in the context of a virtual economic stagnation? Why wealth concentration does not represent an unbeatable obstacle for growth in Korea, whereas it constitutes a structural hindrance in Mexico? Tables. Adapted from the source document.
The author asserts that there has been a profound shift in power away from legislatures & toward courts & other legal institutions. This shift, which has been called judicialization, has become more or less global in its reach. The article carefully examines this constant ebb & flow, this constant shift in the role played by courts & judges in judicializing politics (the greater participation of judges & courts in political matters) & by the various political actors in politicizing the law (the growing participation of politicians in judicial matters). The author distinguishes at least three ways in which courts have taken on new & important roles relative to legislatures. Therefore we find ourselves with the transformation of political questions into legal ones. And this means that legal/constitutional considerations & rhetoric assume new & sometimes decisive importance in ordinary legislative policy making. Adapted from the source document.
This article analyzes the reality of some discourses published in the press whose insertion in the cultural life is arbitrary, ambiguous, & fascinating too. Starting with the works of Emile Benveniste about subjectivity within language, the author focuses on findings regarding certain phenomena linked to enunciation that were previously relegated to the use of speech. Thus, the author wonders what these findings prove? On one hand, enunciation in itself has an argumentative function. That is, an argument is meant to make a positive or negative conclusion. Moreover, such function puts an accent on the very structure of the sentence, not only because information carries argumentative value, but also because the phrase can have diverse expressions or resources that are meant to give an orientation to the argument, the enunciation, & in this way direct the addressee in a given direction. 4 References. In this article, the author asserts that education today is a process subordinated to important tensions &, therefore, its relationship with ethical topics cannot be unilateral. From the definition of current ethical issues, he stresses that the relation of ethics to political problems is established from the mediation of legality & justice embodied in law. The proposal offers more advantages, since it faces the moral & political problems of the global society. This concept indicates the need to integrate political answers to the evident systemic supremacy over social life all around the world. The author states that to initiate a project of radical, transgenerational democracy will require a policy of peace founded in universal juridical progress, from which will emerge a genuine interest in the study of the complex relations between ethics, education, & the international system. Starting from two concepts of Giovanni Sartoni -- the esoteric democracy (simulated or banana like) and from the neopopulism -- the author of this article analyzes the perverse relationships of the so called golden triangle: political parties-public funds for campaigns-propaganda media (television foremost) through a study of an atypical corruption: the Dr. Simi. It maintains as well that the mediocracy (with Televisa as its axis) became a fundamental cornerstone for the 2006 electoral campaigns, having as its vices the foul play, now uncovered by the spotgate of the Federal Electoral Institute (291 thousand radio spots and unaccounted on tv) and the high cost of the election. Finally, the author makes a call to reveal the public funds in the political parties in campaign, situation that is still one of the pending outcomes of the electoral reform.
