The main subject of this thesis is a case study of Polish cinematographic production under the communist period in the 1970's called TOR (Kieslowski, Zanussi, Rozewicz). This research points out the author-filmmaker's creative autonomy confronted to the Cultural Policy upheavals which have determined film production in a non - democratic country : Polish People's Republic in the 1970s. The TOR filmography is homogeneous and its movies transmit the author-filmmaker's point of view about the existential and moral matters while the individual occupies the central place. How was it possible to produce films focused on the individual in a country where the political class and its collective policy occupied the central place?

International audience ; The 2014 Cerisy congress devoted to the journal Géographie et Culture's anniversary was the occasion to make a point about the scientific books collection of the same name. It was also founded en 1992 by Paul Claval and ever since 45 books have been published. The paper is written by its present manager. First the paper deals with the books and their authors: who are they (men and women, old and young, scholars and others.), where do they come from, in which language do they write? Secondly the types of geographies here represented are studied. Does the content of the books fit with the name of the collection? It is often the case with numerous books dealing with epistemology, history of geography, historical geography and, less frequently, postmodernism. But in many cases, books do not have much to do with cultural geography. These ones deal with very peripheral themes in regards to cultural geography such as economic geography or political geography. Nonetheless, most authors use the same methods based on field work, which could hence be considered as the only common point between all the books. The last part of the paper deals with the way the collection has been ruled since twenty years, tackling governance issues. During the latest years the reading committee has decided to focus more on the cultural approaches on geography and to give up these other fields.

The author proposes an examination, based on empirical data collected from courts, Swiss and Canadian insurers and organizations dedicated to fraud prevention, of the means activated by private insurance companies to combat insurance fraud. After firstly having depicted the prevailing situation in Switzerland and Canada, the author then uncovers the basic tenets of the insurance companies' general policies regarding private security in the two countries. The author then tries to discover the guiding logic of the companies and to assess it when compared to the one governing the judicial system. Finally, the author suggests some adaptations that seem necessary to overcome the inconsistencies between the two.
The author proposes a reflection on the economic dualism of industrial societies, questioning the social conditions for diffuse industrial development. The author uses Prato, a city of Tuscany, which, since the 14th century, has been the culmination of home work networks (−) for the wool industry. The author shows that Prato, in the midst of the textile crisis, has been able to take advantage of its industrial archaism knowing it to be updated around the values of trade and success. The author (−) has also been deprived of a socio-territorial logic in industrial broadcasting, which would be based on the local political-administrative system. ; International audience This reflexion upon the economic dualism of industrial societies inquires into the social conditions of a diffuse industrial development. The example is taken of Prato, a city in Tuscany, Italy, that, since the 14th century, has grown up around networks of home-workers in the wool industry. Despite the textile crisis, Prato has taken advantage of its industrial archaism by bringing it up to date through the values of craftwork and success. There is a social-territorial logic in industrial diffusion that is articulated with the political-administrative system. ; The author proposes a reflection on the economic dualism of industrial societies, questioning the social conditions for diffuse industrial development.
