The article examines the use of women scientists by the Soviet government as a possible tool of political propaganda in the international arena. The paper explores the international activities of Soviet women scientists aimed at promoting peace and the activities of the USSR in this area among members of foreign women's organizations and participants of various "peaceful" congresses and conferences, on the one hand, and the activities of the same women scientists during the Second World War to promote the position of the Soviet Union. On the basis of documents of personal origin, as well as memories, the attitude of women scientists to this role is analyzed. ; В статье рассматривается отношение советского правительства к женщинам-ученым как к возможному орудию политической пропаганды на международной арене. Исследуется международная деятельность советских женщин-ученых, направленная на пропаганду мира и деятельности СССР в этом направлении среди членов зарубежных женских организаций и участников различных «мирных» конгрессов и конференций, с одной стороны, и деятельность тех же женщин-ученых в период Второй мировой войны по пропаганде позиции Советского Союза — с другой. На основании документов личного происхождения, а также воспоминаний анализируется отношение женщин-ученых к этой их роли.

The article examines the early stage of cooperation between the writer and philosopher P.P. Pertsov and the conservative newspaper Novoe Vremya (1868–1917). Fragments of Pertsov's archival correspondence with the philosophical writer V.V. Rozanov, Pertsov's father and the critic of the liberal magazine «Russian wealth» A.G. Gornfeld are partially introduced into scientific circulation. The author analyzes the reasons for Pertsov's difficult attitude to the publisher and editor of Novoye Vremya, the playwright and founder of the Maly theater in St. Petersburg, A.S. Suvorin. The author substantiates the conclusion about Pertsov's fundamental differences related to the position of Novoye Vremya in the case of the French officer A. Dreyfus. An overview of Pertsov's publications in the newspaper related to the beginning of his collaboration with the newspaper is given. The author traces the evolution of the attitude of a young critic, a liberal in the recent past, to the «New time». Russian Russian theater and drama is the first time that Pertsov's correspondence with A. Suvorin is introduced into scientific circulation, filled with reflections on Russian theater and Russian dramaturgy. The letters discuss Pertsov's theatrical articles: «About the new theater» (about the production of a play by the German playwright G. Gauptmana «Lonely») and «a Satire or a drama» (about productions of new plays by A.P. Chekhov). Pertsov and Suvorin discuss performances of the Art public theater (Moscow art theater), which opened in Moscow in 1898. In a polemic with a young critic, Suvorin defended the national theater, represented by plays by Russian playwrights, primarily A.N. Ostrovsky. Pertsov advocated a new theater, focused primarily on the production of plays by modern playwrights regardless of their nationality.

The article is dedicated to the legendary person — Suleiman Kuchukov, the first Kyrgyz cadre officer, a hero of the First World War, one of the first horse breeders in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Based on published sources, documents from archival funds and field research, an attempt was made to clarify some of the "white spots" in his biography: the correct spelling of his name, exact dates of life and death, information about awards, etc. were proposed. Some of the materials used are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. Thus, the article dispels some of the myths associated with him. The military route of one of the first national military formations, the Kara-Kyrgyz cavalry regiment, which Suleiman Kuchukov commanded during the Civil War, was traced. In addition to military service and economic activity, the personal life and fate of his descendants are also affected among which two honored artists of the Uzbek SSR. The author separately addresses the issue of the nationality of the commander, pointing to signs of ethnic marginalization of the individual. Unfortunately, the true causes and circumstances of the sudden death of the hero remain unclear. ; Статья посвящена легендарной личности — Сулейману Кучукову — первому кадровому офицеру из числа киргизов, герою Первой мировой войны, одному из первых коннозаводчиков Киргизии и Узбекистана. Опираясь на опубликованные источники, документы архивных фондов и полевые исследования, автором предпринята попытка прояснить некоторые «белые пятна» в его биографии: предлагается правильное написание его имени, точные даты жизни и смерти, сведения о награждениях и т.д. Часть использованных материалов впервые вводится в научный оборот. Таким образом, развеиваются некоторые мифы, связанные с ним. Прослеживается боевой путь одного из первых национальных воинских соединений — Кара-киргизского кавалерийского полка, которым в годы Гражданской войны командовал С. Кучуков. Кроме военной службы и хозяйственной деятельности, затрагивается также его личная жизнь и судьба потомков, среди которых две заслуженные артистки Узбекской ССР. Особое внимание уделяется вопросу национальной принадлежности командира. К сожалению, остаются не установленными истинные причины и обстоятельства внезапной гибели героя.

The article explores the biographies of Peter Kisel and Cimafiej Hurka, who represented the Viciebsk district at the Diet of 1569 and directly participated in the conclusion of the Union of Lublin. For a long time in historiography, attention was paid only to the most influential figures of this Diet. However, the simple, «unremarkable» representatives of the wide circles of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania' nobility played their role in the negotiations on the union. Interests and ideas, conscious and values, and finally, the personal experience of these people directly determined their social and political position, and therefore, to one degree or another, the life of the entire state. The aim of research is to reflect the most important forms of social activity of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania' petty and middle nobility in the second half of the 16th century on the example of two Viciebsk noblemen's unique destinies. It shows the influence of the military and political events of the 1560s on political activities of Peter Kisel and Cimafiej Hurka. The Livonian War's experience definitely influenced their position on the conclusion of the union between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish Kingdom in 1569. The author concludes that it was the cardinal transformations of the 1560s (state reforms, the establishment of the Commonwealth) that allowed them to actively participate in a public life of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It also enabled Kisel and Hurka noble families to take a firm place among the political elite of the Viciebsk district for a long time. It is emphasized that a detailed study of «unremarkable» noblemen's biographies provides advanced research of the noble estate of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

В статье проблемы изменения климата и загрязнения окружающей среды рассматриваются через призму восприятия практикующего эксперта. Майкл Броуди – профессор Американского университета в Вашингтоне, долгие годы работавший в Агентстве по охране окружающей среды в США. Имея обширный исследовательский опыт в России, Украине, Центральной и Средней Азии, он говорит о прагматическом подходе к защите природы, мультидисциплинарном и стратегически ориентированном характере современной высшей школы, роли экономики и социологии в науках об окружающей среде, а также о необходимости выходить за пределы желаний отдельных университетских профессоров ради решения общемировых проблем. Внимание автора, в частности, сосредоточено на социально-экономических последствиях изменения климата в Западной Сибири и различных по сложности способах адаптации к ним. Повышение среднегодовой температуры воздуха в регионе, что может восприниматься как положительный эффект глобального потепления, закономерно приведет к изменению гидрологического режима, а это в свою очередь может сказаться на перспективах развития сельского хозяйства и обеспечения продовольственной безопасности. Интеллектуальная биография Майкла Броуди дополняется ссылками на работы других ученых, занимающихся исследованиями в искомом направлении. ; This article views the problems of climate change and environmental pollution through the perception of an expert – Michael Brody, a professor at the American University in Washington. He has worked in the US Environmental Protection Agency for many years. Having vast research background in Russia, Ukraine, Central and Middle Asia, he touches upon several issues: the pragmatic approach to nature protection; the multi-disciplinary and strategically oriented character of contemporary higher education; the roles of economy and sociology in the environmental science; and the necessity of going beyond the desires of university professors when dealing with global problems. His attention focuses on socio-economic consequences of climate change for Western Siberia and different means of adapting to them. The rise of mid-annual air temperature in this region, which, although, might be viewed as a benefit of global warming, still inevitably leads to the change of hydrological regime. That in turn may affect the perspectives of agriculture development and food security provision. This article covers the research methodologies of leading nature-protecting organizations to develop effective regulative measures, preserving the environment. The contemporary Russian system of climate change and nature pollution control is based on the achievements of the Soviet experience, yet it attempts to become more economically relevant, which will allow the government to carry out their strategic policy. Michael Brody's biography, presented here, is complemented with references to the works of other researchers who have worked on these issues.

Considered are unknown pages of the biography of a right-wing politician N. E. Markov (1866–1945), a State Duma Deputy of III–IV convocations. The publication is made on the base of historically valuable materials of the Archive – Columbia University Libraries, Rare book and Manuscript Library, Bakhmeteff archive (USA). Topicality of the study is defined by the fact that compiling Markov's biography is complicated by the absence of reliable information about some periods of his life, that is a sufficient amount of gaps, filling in such gaps is initiated by the authors. Provided are selective data from the biography of N. E. Markov, which is a fifteen-pages handwritten text, made according to the rules of pre-revolutionary orthography. It gives information about the origin, childhood, period of education, places of service, and about the fates of the members of Markov's family. Subjects of attention are also facts of his designing of Konotop Cathedral, later his becoming a member of Black Hundred (ultra-right organization in pre-revolutionary Russia) Union of Russian People, and growing to a regional and later All-Russian political leader. Based on archive sources, that are first introduced into scientific turnover, this article significantly amplifies views of private life, public and political activities and ideas of Markov, that exist in history ; Рассматриваются неизвестные страницы биографии видного правого политика, депутата Государственной думы III–IV созывов Н. Е. Маркова (1866–1945). Публикация подготовлена на основе имеющих историческую ценность материалов архива – Columbia University Libraries, Rare book and Manuscript Library, Bakhmeteff archive (USA). Актуальность исследования определяется тем, что составление биографии Маркова затруднено отсутствием достоверных сведений об отдельных периодах его жизни, то есть немалым количеством лакун, работа по заполнению которых начата авторами статьи. Выборочно приводятся сведения из биографии Н. Е. Маркова, которая представляет собой пятнадцатистраничный рукописный текст, написанный по правилам дореволюционной орфографии. В нем сообщается о происхождении, детстве, периоде обучения, местах службы, судьбах членов семьи Маркова. Предметом внимания становятся также факты проектирования им Конотопского собора, позднее – его вступления в ряды черносотенного Союза русского народа и превращения в регионального, а затем и всероссийского политического лидера. The article is devoted to the analysis of the latest scientific literature devoted toone of very important and debatable questions of the biography of M.Y. Lermontov – the causes of duel and death of the poet. The medical conclusion states that the bullet entered the right side under the last rib, and came out of the thoracic cavity between the fourth and fifth ribs in the left side. This gave a reason to some authors to claim that it was not a duel but a deliberate murder. The particular attention in the article is paid to the recent multidimensional researches of N. Serafimov who, basing on medicine and ballistics data, provides detailed analysis of the wound and convincingly proves the naturalness of movement of a bullet in the body of the poet. It is necessary to recognize his researches as a final decision of a controversial question. Taking into account N. Serafimov's works and available literature on duel and death of the poet we make the following conclusions:1. The tsar Nikolay Іst was responsible for death of Lermontov. He considered the poet as a political opponent and banished him into the field army to the Caucasus in hope for his death.2. There was no complot with Martynov's participation.3. Лермонто-ва – причин дуелі і смерті поета. Висновок медичної експертизи про те, щокуля увійшла в правий бік нижче останнього ребра, а вийшла між четвер-тим і п'ятим ребрами в лівому боці, давала привід деяким авторам ствер-джувати, що це була не дуель, а навмисне вбивство. У статті приділяєтьсяголовна увага ґрунтовним дослідженням, що недавно з'явилися, М. Се-рафімова, який, ґрунтуючись на даних медицини та балістики, докладноаналізує характер поранення і переконливо доводить природність рухукулі в тілі поета. Його дослідження слід визнати остаточним вирішеннямспірного питання. Вивчення наявної літератури про дуель і смерть поета зурахуванням робіт М. Серафімова дозволяє зробити наступні висновки: 1.За великим рахунком винуватцем смерті Лермонтова був цар Микола І, щоугледів у поеті свого політичного противника, заслав його в діючу армію наКавказ в надії на його загибель. 2. The article deals with little-known pages of the Peasant War of 1670-1671 on the territory of Mordovia, exemplified by the actions of ataman P. Yelushev's troop. On the basis of the surviving documents, Yelushev's biography can be traced before the start of the Razin rebellion. Contrary to the opinion, popular in historiography, about the peasant origin of the Mordovian ataman, the sources indicate his affiliation with the military stratum. ; В статье рассматриваются малоизвестные страницы крестьянской войны 1670–1671 гг. на территории Мордовии на примере действий отряда атамана П. Елушева. На основе сохранившихся документов прослеживается биография Елушева до начала Разинского восстания. Вопреки распространенному в историографии мнению о происхождении мордовского атамана из крестьян, источники свидетельствуют о его принадлежности к служилому сословию.

Purpose. Despite the steady scientific interest in the problems of the great Patriotic war, and the feat of its specific heroes, the post-Soviet historical science often has not yet introduced previously inaccessible sources that significantly Supplement their biographical information. In particular, an attempt is made to reconstruct the biography of the Hero of the Soviet Union G.N. Chernov in the most complete way, using materials that were not previously used in scientific circulation. In addition, the author's research on the values and lifestyle of the Chuvash Diaspora in the Altai region includes, in addition to considering the specific existence of this people in southern Siberia, and reconstructing the life path of its best representatives.Methodology. As a special way of measuring socio-cultural processes in modern science, methods of historical biography are increasingly used, including individual destinies in the context of history. The descriptive and biographical methods and the method of historicism inherent in this auxiliary historical discipline were applied.Results. For the first time in the scientific literature it is described in details the key life episodes of the only Hero of the Soviet Union in the Altai region, Chuvash by nationality, Georgiy Chernov. It has been able to establish that the Chernov family was one of those who had founded the most compact Chuvash residence in the Altai territory. The materials of the investigation on the charges against G.Chernov's father in conspiring against the Soviet authorities have made it possible to supplement information about widespread "SR-rovsowski conspiracy" in Siberia", mass repressions which were begun after the NKVD order № 00447. However, the presence of the repressed father didn't prevent the social biography of Georgiy Chernov. The hero's military path was completed with the act of heroism on August 21, 1944, which was restored from widely available materials as well as from little known recollections of his fellow soldiers.Conclusions. A retrospective review of Georgiy Chernov's life demonstrates the disparity of the interaction of social and concrete historical factors with his personal aspirations and motives. The maximal indoctrination of the Bolshevik state can't prevent the success of the Soviet modernization. As an evidence of it there are the fates of the representatives of the generation whose youth took place during the great Patriotic war. ; Цель. Несмотря на устойчивый научный интерес к проблематике Великой Отечественной войны, и подвигу ее конкретных героев, в постсоветскую историческую науку зачастую ещё не введены недоступные ранее источники, существенно дополняющие их биографические сведения. В частности, предпринимается попытка наиболее полно реконструировать биографию Героя Советского Союза Г.Н. Чернова, используя материалы, до этого не использовавшиеся в научном обороте. Кроме этого, исследование автором ценностей и образа жизни чувашской диаспоры в Алтайском крае, включает в себя, помимо рассмотрения конкретного бытования этого народа в Южной Сибири, и реконструкцию жизненного пути его лучших представителей.Метод и методология. Как особый способ измерения социально-культурных процессов в современной науке все шире используются методы исторической биографики, включающей индивидуальные судьбы в контекст истории. Применялись присущие ей описательный и биографический методы, принцип историзма.Результаты. Впервые в научной литературе детально описываются ключевые эпизоды жизни единственного в Алтайском крае Героя Советского Союза, чуваша по национальности, Г.Н. Чернова. Удалось установить, что семья Черновых была одной из тех, кто основал место наиболее компактного проживания чувашей в Алтайском крае. Материалы следственного дела по обвинению отца Г.Н. Чернова позволили дополнить сведения о широкомасштабно сфабрикованном в Сибири «эсеро-ровсовским заговоре», массовые репрессии по которому начались после известного приказа НКВД СССР № 00447. Однако наличие репрессированного родителя не помешало социальной биографии Г.Н. Чернова. Боевой путь героя, завершившийся подвигом 21 августа 1944 года, восстановлен как по материалам, находящимся в широком доступе, так и по малоизвестным воспоминаниям однополчан Г.Н. Чернова.Выводы. Ретроспективное рассмотрение жизни Г.Н. Чернова демонстрирует неоднозначность взаимодействия социальных и конкретно-исторических факторов с его личными устремлениями и мотивами. Максимальная индоктринация большевистского государства не может отменить успехов советской модернизации, о которых свидетельствуют судьбы представителей поколения, чья молодость пришлась на годы Великой Отечественной войны.

本研究以一个曾经在文革中施暴的红卫兵──李乾的生命传记为个案,以布迪厄的社会实践理论为理论框架,探讨主体参与文革与记忆、反思文革的实践,以及对文革意义的理解,进而理解一系列红卫兵实践(尤其是暴力实践)的逻辑。不同于已有文革研究的精英史和社会史路径,本研究试图发展一种传记取向的文革研究路径,分析个体生命经验与其所处社会情境,红卫兵的惯习与其所处的场域的复杂关系,由此更深刻地理解文革以及无产阶级专政的政治文化。 ; 首先,本研究聚焦这些红卫兵文革初期对文革的认知、情感机制与行动策略,指出其实践如何受制于无产阶级专政场域与惯习的作用,如何再生产无产阶级专政的政治文化,即再生产无产阶级专政的象征秩序、权力技术、话语方式与组织机制,如何再生产文革"武斗"的直接暴力与"文斗"的话语暴力。并且,本研究试图说明早期"造反者"的"造反"动力来自其与老红卫兵在革命资格竞争中的"相对剥夺感";这种"造反"并不是为了反抗主流的象征秩序,而是努力争取自身在这套象征秩序中的优势位置和资本。 ; 其次,本研究探讨主体生命经验中关键性的暴力事件──"一二.五"事件的实际发生过程,分析"一二.五"事件中这些红卫兵对暴力的认知与情感,以及暴力如何被合法化及赋权,其中的专政对象──"流氓"是如何被建构与想象的,由此揭示特定的政治文化脉络中主体的贱斥动力以及这一暴力实践的逻辑。红卫兵暴力惯习的形塑,不仅受制于文革的革命场域的作用,更受制于建国以来历时性的无产阶级专政场域的作用;同时,这一惯习的运作又在维持和再生产无产阶级专政的政治文化。 ; 此外,本研究探讨主体在"一二.五"事件后,如何在一系列社会互动的过程中,逐步实现了意识的转化和主体性变迁,如何从符号中介的生命经验中引入新的认知与情感机制重新理解"一二.五"事件、文革以及无产阶级专政的政治文化。这种批判性的反思实践与主体所处行动场域中的社会位置以及所能接收的多元的、异质性的符号资源密切相关,可以形塑主体惯习的转化,生产新的社会实践以及相应社会关系的改变。 ; 最后,本研究试图将当下民间文革记忆与反思实践置于文革与后文革、毛时代与后毛时代的连续性与转型的关系之中,指出为民间记忆与反思实践赋权的政治文化意义。这一反记忆实践不仅打捞普通人被遗忘的、被边缘化的文革记忆,也介入对历史与现实的批判,积极争取个体对历史的话语权,与对现实政治、文化的参与权。 ; Taking the life biography of a former Red Guard Li Qian who committed violence during the Cultural Revolution (CR) as a case, this research employs Pierre Bourdieu's theory of social practice to explore the Red Guards' participatory, mnemonic and reflective practices during the CR, as well as their understanding of the CR, with the aim of further understanding the logics of the Red Guards' practices (especially their violent practices). Different from the traditional approaches of political history and social history, this study attempts to develop a biography approach to study the CR. It analyzes the complex relations between individuals' life experiences and their social contexts, between the Red Guards' habitus and the specific field, to understand the political culture of the CR and the Proletarian Dictatorship. ; First, this study focuses on the Red Guards' cognitive and emotional mechanism and action strategy during the early days of the CR. Unknown and amazing circumstances of the granting pension to Nikolai (Nicholas) Rubakin (1862-1946), then resident in Switzerland, by the Soviet Government, are revealed. The author takes the chance to review and characterize Rubakin's attitude towards Soviet realities and Western democracy, and to demonstrate the drama of Rubakin's life and work. Based on archival documents. ; Раскрыты неизвестные обстоятельства удивительного факта - назначения Н. А. Рубакину (1862-1946), проживавшему и работавшему в Швейцарии, персональной пенсии от советского правительства. Благодаря этому эпизоду биографии представилась возможность рассмотреть и охарактеризовать отношение Н. А. Рубакина как к советской действительности, так и к западной демократии, продемонстрировать драматичность ситуации, в которой ему приходилось жить и творить. Статья основана на архивных документах.

Рассматривается эволюция взглядов С. Н. Стрижова на развитие промышленности края, его выступления в прессе и на съездах золотопромышленников, политическая деятельность в городах Урала. Сделана попытка выявить причины перехода Стрижова к революционной работе. Дана оценка его взглядам по вопросу об автономии Урала. В статье представлены неизвестные ранее биографические сведения. ; The article presents the value orientations and behavioral practices of the Social Revolutionary leaders of Yekaterinburg during the revolutions and the Civil War using the biography of S. N. Strizhov. The evolution of his views on the development of the industry of the region, appearances in the press and at the congresses of gold miners, political activity in the cities of the Urals is considered. An attempt is made to identify the reasons for Strizhov's transition to revolutionary work. An assessment of his views on the autonomy of the Urals is given. The article reveals previously unknown biographical information.
