; Based on negative trends like climate change, dwindling resources, pollution of air and soil or social grievances, more attention is paid to sustainability. Nowadays there is already a common accordance among society, politicians and academics that companies have the power to contribute to sustainable development by changing their business model towards a more sustainable one. Within the scientific literature, the business model concept has received lots of attention in recent years and sustainable business models get more relevant, even though there is a lack of definition about this concept. But it is evident that only a holistic integration of sustainability into the companys business model is meaningful. Therefore, this thesis aims to answer the questions about how business models are changing due to the rising importance of sustainability, what are influencing factors for this transition process, as well as which barriers might hinder companies in the transition towards a business model for sustainability (BMfS) and what are the drivers that promote changing the business model. Furthermore, the role of relevant stakeholders during the transition is investigated. Therefore, theoretical and empirical research is conducted. Theoretical research is based on the analysis of scientific literature dealing with the concept of business models and business strategy, the change of business models, and finally of linking sustainability to the concept of business models to deal with BMfS. The empirical part consists of qualitative, interview-based case studies about Austrian companies that successfully have changed their business model. The results show that BMfS are likely to be the future of our economy, even though the transition is a slow and difficult process, which needs to overcome barriers like the lack of resources. But the drivers, like a more efficient value chain, predominate. ; Petra Stabauer, BSc ; Zusammenfassungen in Deutsch und Englisch ; Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Masterarbeit, 2017 ; (VLID)1915283

This article presents the results of comparative analysis of platform business models based on a unique typology of platforms and proposed parameters of business models. It was concluded that in order to describe a platform business model, it is possible to use a series of parameters specific to business models of traditional non-platform companies, extending their contents. However, the specific character of platforms requires setting/introducing a new business model parameter, which will reflect an innovative component, and detailed analysis of possible solutions to a dilemma of monetization of value created by platforms without destroying the network effect.

Business model innovations are conceived and implemented by a special type of entrepreneur: business model pioneers. This book presents 14 compelling case studies of business model pioneers and their companies, who have successfully introduced new business ideas to the market. The examples range from industries such as retail, media and entertainment to services and industrial projects. For each example, the book provides information on the market environment at the time of launch and illustrates the driving forces behind these business models. Moreover, current market developments are highlighted and linked to the evolution of the business models. Lastly, the authors present the profile of a typical business model pioneer.
International Finance Corporation (IFC) defines inclusive business models (IBM) as enterprises that help expand access to goods, services, and livelihood opportunities to those at the base of the pyramid in commercially viable, scalable ways. The context of India - poor health indicators, a globalized economy, the government's willingness to work with the private sector, and recognition of the poor as clients rather than beneficiaries - has led to the emergence of inclusive business models in the Indian economy. A number of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations have emerged as inclusive business models in India. Also, many organizations work with the government to provide healthcare services through public-private partnership (PPP) models. This IFC and Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare (WISH) study provides an overview of the landscape of inclusive business models in the healthcare sector. It includes challenges they face, strategies they adopt to succeed, and suggestions on how the ecosystem can enable and facilitate their growth.

Business models : what they are, how they work, why they are important -- Describing the customers -- Describing what customers do -- Quantifying customer behavior -- Building customer data files -- Building a contact strategy -- The process of building a business model -- Changing the business model -- Case studies
