In 1980 the Supreme Court of Florida adopted comprehensive amendments to the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure. The author critically examines these amendments and discusses their probable impact on civil practice in Florida. The author also surveys and discusses the 1980 legislation and court decisions that have affected or construed the unamended rules.

In regulating Civil Partnerships the Maltese legislator certainly did not intend conferring on them legal personality. This can be concluded by reference to Italian law of the same period i.e. the Civil Code of 1865, and by analogy from a consideration of the historical aspects of the question in the case of commercial partnerships. ; peer-reviewed

The national objectives of civilian emergency planning are: (1) protection and preservation of life and property; (2) maintenance of governmental structure; and (3) conservation of resources. The Canada Emergency Measures Organization (E.M.O.) has been developed to accomplish these objectives. E.M.O. co-ordinates other departments and agencies of federal government and its organization is reflected within provincial and municipal governments.

This article is based on a speech delivered by Judge Frank M.Johnson, Jr. to the faculty and students of the Vanderbilt Law School. Judge Johnson's thesis is that "civil disobedience" presents a special challenge to judges and lawyers. He feels that there are alternatives to "civil disobedience" for challenging and protesting the law and that lawyers have a duty to inform the public of these alternate methods. Only in extreme cases does Judge Johnson believe that "civil disobedience" is justified. He illustrates his thesis with a discussion of the events surrounding the Democratic Convention at Chicago.

La lucha española tuvo la virtud de apasionar a México, y de crear una identificación de las metas y los objetivos españoles con los mexicanos.

This Article identifies the most important issues which must be dealt with after Monell v, Department of Social Services, 436 U.S. 658 (1978), and attempts to resolve them. Section I considers what rules and practices are "official acts, policies and customs" subjecting a government to suit under Monell. The second section analyzes the possible defenses available to a city; it concludes that the good faith immunity afforded to executive officials should not be extended to government entities, but that such entities should be afforded a somewhat narrower defense. Section III discusses the scope of injunctive relief available in section 1983 actions against state officials. Finally, section IV urges that after Monell state law claims against cities can and should be tried in federal court when joined with section 1983 actions.

Published in 1973, Western North Carolina Since the Civil War takes a look at mountain people in Western North Carolina and their uniquely structured economic, political, social, and cultural systems. The Van Noppens specifically explore different qualities of the mountain people such as their institutions, traditions, customs, and arts and crafts. Beginning with a dark period of social and economic disintegration after the end of the Civil War, the study traces the mountain peoples' lives from isolation to economic booms all while maintaining their traditions and cultural heritage.
