To collect is to assign value to objects of function, mementos, ideas, etc. The value we project and engage with reflects our private and public selves in a grounding relationship with a material reality. The collection of certain texts, concepts, and artists have strengthened my relationship with a political self, self as artist, and writer as learner--while maintaining the autonomy of the material to speak for itself by offering it to the reader in its full form (PDF archive of mentioned material). This project is an attempt at merging academic writing with autobiographical elements of developing maturity in hopes to bridge a gap between academia and the beginner. With this book as an interactive object, I want academic and intimate material to find a new place in adult lifestyles. To collect is to re-materialize knowledge, to collect is a reason to share.
