; The analysis of some ideological and political aspects that go through the historical educational discourse lets us understand the complex web of interests and reasons that do up and undo the system resulting in that complex game called the pedagogic practice. This article is based on the idea that, in those historical moments when the socio-economic aspects do not appear as a finished or monolithic structure but are established as topics of argument and confronted discourses –between the leading politics and the popular alternatives- college and high school education act as "fuses" of the political system. In this way, they frame educational alternatives that can diverge or modify popular ideas to suit predetermined governmental policies. ; Fil: Apellido, Nombre. Universidad 1. ; In 1767 the Society of Jesus, blamed of the insurrection against Esquilache by the government of Charles III, is expelled of Spanish Kingdoms. The college was founded due to Juan Velarde's, by which they created six scholarships for students of the same condition as himself, and it is the aim of the analysis of this paper. It is a little college which had the purpose to perdure more than two centuries, in the atmosphere of Valladolid where these secular centers were not very common. Its way of life was fed by the example of Santa Cruz high school, to which they imitated as far as they could. Referred to its administration, it was almost completely in the hands of the ecclesiastic authorities, as their protectors were churchmen who knew how to monopolize the government of this household. In consequence, the academic authorities remained very distant from this small college, although they included it in their hearts, providing it with their jurisdiction, in the same way as they did so with their students studying at the University of Valladolid.

; ABSTRACT: In the year 2003, the College of Engineering of the University of Antioquia arrives to 60 years from its more recent foundation; this is so, because this College was the first School of Engineering in Colombia and really has a long history that goes back to the Independence times. For that reason, this anniversary is a good excuse for a brief presentation of the history of an entity that now enters its third century of existence. In this first issue an account is done from its very beginning up to 1980 decade.

Myers expedition to Venezuela passed unnoticed for U.S. intellectual circles in the 19th century. Although Humboldt's work made it known scientifically, the country remains today terra incognita in some respects, such as the knowledge of her natural resources. Venezuela's political and economic conditions in the 19th century prevented the publication at the time of the foreign literature on her natural history. In the last decades of the 20th century there is at last a new and growing interest in studyng and translating the legacy that international scholars on Venezuela left.

This paper analyzes the central components of the different social representations of solidarity. Solidarity arises from the impossibility of individuals acting in isolation & from an interest in developing forms of collaboration with others. That is to say, solidarity should not be confused with altruism or generosity. By means of an empirical study with university students we find that the conception of solidarity is closely tied to the conception of society. But it is also marked by the fact of membership in groups that receive social assistance & the positive/negative evaluation of those groups. Active solidarity, influence of the left & of the right, & Sarpellon's interpretation in 1994 about the crisis of solidarity & the idea of a horizontal solidarity & a vertical solidarity are central concepts that help to understand solidarity, beyond its common meaning. As well, makes mention to the closed circuits of radio in universities & to the alternative broadcastings or commonly named "pirates, illegals or outlaws," particularly to those that are underground broadcasted by university students.
