The essay investigates the interrelationships between Political Correcteness, stand-up comedy, and minority groups, by concentrating on the performances of an Arab-American disabled comedian, the "Palestinian Muslim virgin with cerebral palsy" Maysoon Zayid. Focusing on PC as a set of linguistic practices whose effect is the sanitarization of public discourse (especially when minorities are concerned), and stand-up comedy as a set of speech acts aiming at both the affirmation and/or the transgression of identity boundaries, the essay investigates the relationship between PC and comedy, and the way they interact within the three "spaces of minority" Zayid embodies: ethnicity (Arab-Americaness in the wake of 9/11), gender (womanhood and its relation to both Arab and American cultures), and disability, under-represented in American culture and the media.
As we approach the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri this work seeks to examine his Comedy in its entirety, providing, in the first instance, a statistical analysis of the places mentioned therein, and another dealing with the characters associated with these places. The analysis is intended to be exhaustive and includes those places, obviously less frequent, outside of Italy (in this regard, it should be remembered that Dante could not have had much greater knowledge of geography than that already condensed in Ptolemy's Ecumene). To this end, groups of high school students were asked to read all the cantos of the three Canticles of which Dante's Divine Comedy (by Dante Alighieri) is composed, and to prepare a list of the required data in a properly ordered list. Their dedication and painstaking efforts have provided an indispensable, invaluable and essential support for the creation of the database from which the statistical, graphical and geomatic analyses that form the core of this paper are derived. Next, the variance analysis (performed using the Pearson correlation coefficient) and the connection analysis (performed with the Bonferroni Indices) are presented, observing the absence of a law on the average behavior of the variables treated and yet a not entirely random permutation (in contrast, the values of the correlation coefficients display curious tendencies in Inferno and Paradiso, reflecting Dante's political ideas, while being almost non-existent in Purgatorio). Lastly, a network is created to organize the information flow between characters and places on the basis of the tables into which the data collected was placed. This network has a functional model similar to that of a leveling network, or a network of potential differences or flows, in other disciplines (despite the obvious absence of observations and a stochastic-metrological model for them). The data collected are condensed into a series of anamorphic maps that facilitate their reading. In this case too, precious and indispensable has been the contribution of the architect-graphic designer who produced the anamorphic maps and the other images, displayed to support the statistical and numerical processes presented in this work (in this regard, equal merits must also go to the teacher of Italian who coordinated all the work performed by the aforementioned High School students): Without some small, but nonetheless very useful, contributions, even the greatest of ideas are worth nothing. The analysis as a whole does not seek to analyze the Divine Comedy but rather to highlight, from a statistical point of view, the rigor of Dante's creation, in terms of its accuracy and reliability. On the other hand, from a geomatics point of view, the work does provide a further example of the possibilities offered by geomatics applications that today are able to find uses in areas traditionally far removed from geomatics and applied geomatics, such as those of the human sciences. This approach is particularly interesting, because it seeks to make available, without airs or graces, the point of view of geomatic scientists, with their measurement techniques, their mathematical models and their methods of calculation and analysis, to other disciplines, taking into consideration other data, different from those traditionally dealt with by the surveying disciplines (with an eagerness to share ideas, and with a spirit of service and a wish to learn new things). Thus, the desired point of convergence is to expand the boundaries of Geomatics Applications, in this direction, and, also, on the other hand, to find interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary interlocutors who can propose examples, of certain appeal, who can critically evaluate the methodologies used and the results obtained, and who can maintain a constructive dialogue allowing both convergent communities to grow critically and to improve.
The aim of this paper is to outline Sordello's position within Dante's Comedy. Why did Dante choose the love poet Sordello for describing corruption and malpractice in Italy? In the lamentatio for the pitiful state of Italy the author contrasts the surge of affection (the enthusiastic embrace between Sordello and Virgil is a paradigm of patriotism) to a strife-torn country. In this context, the troubadour looks like an anomaly: he was born near Mantua but he soon moved to France, writing in a language different from his mothertongue. Dlaczego Dante w pieśń o upadku obyczajów i korupcji we Włoszech umieszcza Sordella, poetę miłości?

In Plato's political philosophy, usually accused of utopian tendency, the most careful reflection is placed on Athenian politics of the fourth century. Examples are the Gorgias and the Menexenus, which represent, in theatrical form, as typically happened in Athens, political premises and historical effects of imperialism. In these dialogues Plato presents the theses of the supporters of the war against Sparta and implements a form of confutation that is not intra-logical, but counterfactual, through a complex «game» of textual references to the tragedy, especially Euridpidean (the Gorgias) and the Attic comedy (the Menexenus). In this sense, the anachronisms that are encountered in the two works are perfectly understood.
Dottorato di ricerca in Storia d'Europa: società, politica, istituzioni (XIX - XX secolo) ; The aim of this research is to retrace the Italian's imaginary in the cultural transition that took place in the post-‐war period, when from a rural nation Italy became a modern mass society: to examine this evolution from the miserable conditions of the post-‐war period to the economic boom years, the analysis will focus on the change that has most influenced the daily life of Italians – the evolution of consumption and change of habits – through the film lense of coeve popular films production. During the period considered, the movie comedy has recorded the changes that occurred in the Italian society, often redefining the collective imaginary in terms of needs and desires. The discussion is divided into two parts. The first part outlines the contours of the historical context: the first chapter offers an overview on the evolution of post-‐war consumption and defines the research perspective, reviewing the stages that characterized the post-‐war period in a periodization related to a reading of consumption – which reflects the subdivision of the proposed analysis in "needs" and "desires". The second chapter describes the conditions of Italian cinema after the Second World War, both to understand the reasons that make it a crucial point to observe the change of Italian society, and to outline the reciprocity between the history of cinema and the history of Italian society in that moment. Thanks to these particolar conditions, it is then possible to proceed with the second part, analysing the movies in relation to the objectives of the research: the third and fourth chapter are focused respectively to the Needs of Reconstruction and to the Desires of the "Italian Miracle".
Political and historical significance of Aristophanes' Knights in the modern performance acted for the first time in the Greek theatre of Siracuse during the theatrical season INDA 2018 ; Significato stoirico-politico dei Cavalieri dei Aristofane nella rappresentazione moderna realizzata per la prima volta nel teatro greco di Siracusa durante la stagione teatrale organizzata dall'INDA (Istituto Nazionale del Dramma Antico) nel 2018
ENG - Since what time and to what extent has the exchange of gifts and favors started to be considered a crime, which democratic institutions and the demos of Athens have to defend themselves from? This research proposes an answer to this question starting from the aristotelic Athenaion Politeia and other literary sources of the fourth century, documented also by Harpokration. These evidences are compared with the information we can derive from the comic scenes of Aristophanes: legal and institutional continuity, results and failures of the Athenian anti-corruption system, different characterization and political uses of bribery in and out of Athens are some of the results offered by this comparison.
; The authoress- performer Lella Costa can be compared to a jolly and her femininityis outstanding. In her monologues she talks about social, political and cultural issues with "feminine" rehtoric. The monologue, that includes poetry and singing, allows us to better understand what surrounds us through multifaceted characters.

The People and its servants Fifth-century Athens, and the so-called "Old Comedy", offer us a chance to reflect on the origin of "populism", on the complex idea of "democracy", on the possible interactions between politics and theatre. One comedy above all, Aristophanes' Knights (424 b.C) fits so well the actual issues of international politics that its adaptations and performances are increasingly frequent and effective: the plot, based on the timeless allegory of Athens as the old Demos' House, displays and reveals on scene the basic techniques used by demagogues (ancient and modern) anticipating Chomsky's "Manufacturing Consent" with significant implications ever since
The volume contains eighteen original essays, written - upon invitation - by internationally renowned scholars from various Italian or foreign universities. The major issues that recent papyrus discoveries have raised (or re-proposed) on the text and interpretation of several of Menander's comedies are addressed, outlining an authoritative and fully updated picture of our knowledge in this regard. Among other things, the first fruits of the edition (with photography) of a new, previously unpublished fragment of the famous (and discussed) Michigan papyrus are offered. All reports present remarkable aspects of editorial novelty, with philological, linguistic and literary comments, relevant for the cultural debate on Menandro's comedy, and therefore for the history of ancient theater and its evolution, as well as for the study of the influences exercised from the New Comedy on the later Latin and Italian tradition.
Persuasion with gifts and dorodokia in democratic Athens: presumed integrity and commun distrust Abstract This research explores the meanings of 'persuasion with gifts' and dorodokia in the aristotelic Athenaion Politeia and other literary sources of the fifth and fourth century compared with the information of the Aristophanes comedy: particularly the focus is on definition of «bribery with gifts» in ancient Athens, legal and institutional continuity between the fifth and fourth centuries, success and failures of the Athenian anticorruption system, different characterisation and political uses of bribery in and out of Athens, connections between abuses of gift in democracy and loss of public confidence.
