The article discusses the current aspects of the credit behavior of Russians, including changes in the volume of borrowings over the past 4 years, as well as the dynamics of indebtedness, including overdue loans. Based on the results of the author's sociological research (two measurements — in 2022 and 2023), the features of active actions and attitudes of young people in the field of debt behavior are identified. The analysis showed strengthening of the vector on the willingness to involve this age group of the population in credit practices. There was carried out a comparison of the attitudes of young people regarding the conditions under which evasion of obligations to repay debts is justified: 1) debts to credit institutions; 2) to relatives and acquaintances. The views of Russian youth on the censure for such evasion practices in Russian society are examined. The survey results show that the presence of a loan agreement of respondents contributes to formation of a more responsible behavior regarding compliance with payment deadlines, in contrast to the situation of the absence of debt (only with the intention to enter into debt relations). The position of young people in relation to the violation of loan repayment terms is different in different groups: the youngest respondents (17–20 years old) see more reasons for the possibility of non-repayment of the loan. Among the reasons why it is permissible, in the opinion of young people, not to repay debts, the most compelling for respondents are the situations when the loan was issued by fraudsters without the consent of the person himself (67%), in case of serious health problems and the need to spend on treatment (38%), if the lender increased the interest on the loan unilaterally (34%), in case of job loss (26%). Credit risks typical not only for young people, but also for all age groups of Russians are highlighted: deterioration of the "credit quality" of borrowers and risks of breach of obligations (non-payment and violation of repayment terms) on loans due to a decrease in real income.

The paper provides the analysis of citizens' credit behavior issues based on sociological research data collected in autumn 2002 in Russian big regional centers. The method of principal components is used for defining main factors which characterize attitudes to money, savings, debt and credit. The paper examines the influence of gender, age, education and other social and demographic variables on the inclination to borrowing. The hierarchical cluster analysis used helps to define six groups (clusters) of people. Each group has its specific attitude to saving and borrowing. The differences between groups in basic components of the credit behavior (experience of borrowing, selection of a creditor, preferences with regard to the credit amount and time of payment, acceptable interest rate) are considered.

The set of credit goods and services is changing to meet the demand of users, however, if there is enough information about generation X and Y — the parents of modern «zoomers» («zoomers» are representatives of generation Z) and they have already shown their credit behavior, then generation Z is new customers of banks and there are no exact characteristics of their credit behavior yet.
The aim of the work was to study the behavior of generation Z, in accordance with the theory of U. Strauss and N. Howe, in order to make a forecast of zoomer's credit behavior based on the information received. At the first stage of the study, information about the behavior of generation Z in different spheres of their lives was collected and analyzed, as well as the conditions of the surrounding reality in which they live, and how it affects them. The article reveals that generation Z was born in a relatively quiet period, they grew up simultaneously with the active development of technology and the Internet, so since childhood, speed in everything is important for them. Representatives of the generation like a creative approach to the presentation of information, do not like physical labor and are ready to work remotely or as freelancers. The author of the article separately noted that at a young age, the «zoomers» witnessed global changes in the world: coronavirus, exams in online format, a special military operation, partial mobilization, which affected their expectations of the world. Representatives of Z are ready to raise the global problems of the planet for discussion and present solutions to these problems. In order to determine the attitude of «zoomers» to loans and identify their values, at the second stage of the study, a survey of representatives of generation Z «Credit behavior of Yaroslavl residents» was conducted (August — September 2023). Yaroslavl, the sample is spontaneous (N = 570), the age of respondents is from 17 to 22 years, of which 47 % are men and 53 % are women. Among the respondents, 87 % receive higher education, 5 % receive secondary vocational education, 8 % receive secondary general education.
Method of collecting information: oral survey and on-line questionnaire. As a result of the study of the generation of «zoomers», the author of the article revealed that education will be important for them in order to keep up with the realities of the time and possess key, in-demand competencies. Generation Z is ready to take out a loan on a smartphone to always stay in touch with the outside world. A personal car, as the third purchase in the popularity rating of «zoomers», must necessarily reflect their individuality and be eco-friendly. This generation will open up new approaches to the consumption of goods, the attitude to the disposal of funds and their accumulation.

PurposeDespite the spread in usage and ownership of credit cards, few studies have examined its effect on consumer debt in developing nations. The main purpose of this paper is to understand consumers' attitude and spending behavior using credit cards.Design/methodology/approachThis study is based on a questionnaire survey conducted in Malaysia. Based on an extensive review of literature, a model is developed to identify the psychographic factors that influence the consumer attitudes toward using credit cards.FindingsThe paper found support for some of the theoretical expectations and lends support to some of the earlier deviations reported in the literature.Practical implicationsThe findings are likely to be important to banks and financial institutions issuing credit cards, as they help managers to have a better understanding of cardholders in Malaysia and their attitude and behavior toward usage of credit cards.Originality/valueThis paper makes a valuable contribution given the fact that there is a dearth of empirical studies of this nature focusing on Malaysia.

In the present study, we rely upon an integration of proactive motivation and performance theories to investigate a neglected research question – when is proactive behavior likely to be rewarded or punished? Based upon a self-determination theory perspective of proactive motivation, we hypothesize that leader feelings of responsibility for constructive change moderate the relationship between follower proactive behavior and performance evaluation. The results of a time-lagged study support this hypothesis, indicating that follower taking charge behavior is rewarded with higher performance evaluations only when leaders feel responsible for constructive change. Following the discussion of findings, we discuss practical implications, potential limitations of the present study and directions for future research.
