ABSTRACT- The depiction of the Latin-American heroes corresponds for the most part to the last two centuries and the main figures of Independence feature prominently in this depiction. It is especially in Mexico that heroes who lived at a later date (during the Reform and the Revolution) are worshipped. Concerning a more recent period, only Ernesto Che Guevara gave rise to a form of hero-worshipping that is becoming universal, with a number of misunderstandings.
Cult Collectors examines cultures of consumption and the fans who collect cult film and TV merchandise. Author Lincoln Geraghty argues that there has been a change in the fan convention space, where collectible merchandise and toys, rather than just the fictional text, have become objects for trade, nostalgia, and a focal point for fans' personal narratives. Despite India's status as one of the leading centres of global film production, and the passion for Bollywood exhibited by fans worldwide, it is notable that Indian cinema very rarely features within lists of cult films compiled by scholars or fans in the West. Unlike the popular cinemas of Hong Kong and Japan, which have built up a significant transnational cult following, Bollywood has been relatively absent from the established canons of cult cinema. In recent years, however, a number of websites and fan publications have started to frame Indian cinema as an object of cult interest and this is therefore an opportune moment to explore the cultural politics of this burgeoning form of transnational reception. In proposing that we theorise this as 'cult cosmopolitanism' – designating the cosmopolitan embrace of cultural difference through cult reception practices – this article considers the implications that this phenomenon has for our understanding of the transnational circulation of Indian cinema and global popular cinemas more generally.

Sects & cults constitute a third Christian force, in addition to Protestantism & Roman Catholicism, in the contemporary US. Sects are particularist groups with a basically negative orientation. Cults tend to be positively oriented & to be organized around a Charismatic leader. Any discussion of the various religious groups in the US must take into account the diff's in context, rather than the diff's in content, between them. Religious context largely determines whether or not religious groups are in the mainstream of historical development. The principal distinction between sects or cults & denominations is that sects or cults are established to achieve the spatial & psychic context of isolation. The denominations currently adapt to Me beliefs & values. The sects & cults are uneroded, unexposed, intransigent, & withdrawn. They provide a haven from soc interpenetration & complexity. They do not wish to be assimilated into the mainstream of religious thought & practice. The sects & cults, in almost every particular, provide a counter current in the mid-20th cent religious revival. AA.
