Since the creation of the Indian Union, (1947), many local Indian territories have witnessed the structuring ofmodern economic fields based on networks of agents able to define the orientation of the development of theirown territory. From 1970 onwards, in the ancient Princely Capital Cities of Rajasthan, tourism has gradually become the basis of economic development. Rajput businessmen of Royal descent were at the origin of thistourist-centered project of development. It consists in the reappropriation, for economic purposes, of the socialmemories and of the cultural heritage of the royal dynasty. This research work purposes an analysis of the emergence of tourism in the city of Udaipur, where the project, initiated by entrepreneurs of Râjput origins, descendents of the royal principes of India, aims at theconstruction of a social memory of the royalty and of its heritage in the way to generate economic benefits. In this, tourism processes are linked to the territory, extracting in the material and immaterial elements, in theheritages and in the memories of the foundation of this ancient royal capital of Mewar Kingdom.Located in the historic city, near the places related to the royal heritage, this project relies on a permanent political domination, and on the mastery of the territory. The specificities of such an economic activity based on material and immaterial elements of the territory, are itsconstant references to the local cultures, and its ability to produce new forms of cultural expresions. The resulting cultural and economic system partakes of a global image. It also implies a territorial dynamic based onpolitical domination. This movement has an influence on the actual places, but conveys in the same time at abroader level a specific set of representation. The structuration of this emerging form of production combines cultural and economic innovation. It consequently defines a cultural district specializing in tourism. The study analyses the modes of emergence of this particular district, and of its ...

The aim of this thesis is the study of local pottery during Late La Tène, in the Saône valley. Its first part deals with external aspects (geographical, historical, archaeological outline) and expose the study method of local pottery (criteria of analysis). The second part settles the regional documentation (material for analysis from each settlement). The third part presents a synthesis organised through several themes : major aspects of local pottery, evolution of local coarse wares, influences of mediterranean contacts, pottery industry, local and regional trades, cultural, economical and political relations.

The recent evolutions relative to the sugarcane and to its two main finished products (the sugar and the rum) in Martinique led in interrogate about the future of this production. The present thesis, which concerns this problem, was the object of collection of data and analysis on the functioning of sugarcane production units and on the construction of the controlled label (AOC) "Martinique agricultural rum". It contributes so to the knowledge and to the understanding of the martinican sugarcane production at the dawn of the XXIth century. From a forward-looking on the future of the martinican sugarcane production, it proposes a methodology of analysis to think about the future of small agro-industrial productions, in a fragile socioeconomic context. The problem of the sugarcane future in Martinique is analyzed from the central concept of durability, allowing the consideration of the various dimensions of this production (environmental, economic, social, land). As has been the case in other old "sugar islands", sugarcane has known a significant decline in Martinique since the sixties, however the AOC label for Martinique agricultural rum obtained in 1996 allowed for a certain enhancement of the territory. In the context of an unsure sugar and rum market, this thesis shows that the future of sugarcane production goes through the strengthening of the patrimonial dimension of Martinique agricultural rum, as well as the valorization of the role of sugarcane in the construction of the identity as well as the development of the territory. Beyond the side effects of slavery, the role of sugarcane in the structuring process of martinican society, economy, culture, architectural and landscape heritage, makes this crop the key element of the territory. However, because of persistent socio-ethnical caesuras, the identity dimension of this culture finds it difficult to crystallize in the label "Martinique", still quite new. Acknowledging the contribution of sugarcane to the sustainable development of the territory could be favorable to the convergence of the individual and collective, socio-economic and environmental interests.

Literary Misfortunes.
The development of reading in popular milieux was accompanied by the emergence of a very low-value position in the literary field. Contrary to the common belief that the career of popular novelist results from an initial, deliberate choice inspired by sheer appetite for mercenary gain, analysis shows that relegation to this illegitimate, but still hierarchically structured, sector of cultural production is the outcome and the mark of previous failure. By observing the social characteristics and the trajectories of popular novelists, one is able to identify a contrario the objective laws of success in the literary field : the writers initially best endowed with economie and/or social capital are those most capable of avoiding identification of their perso n with this low-value form of production and of producing the «quality-popular» literature which has the least popular readership.
