In the 1990s, Kurds living in Mardin and the surrounding provinces were subjected to various pressures, forced migration, and negative treatment such as village evacuation. Veysi Altay's documentary "Bir" (The Well) tells the story of the disappearance of seven people, three of whom are children after they were detained in the Dargeçit district of Mardin in 1995, and the search for them by their relatives. The fact that the director, who traces the search, focuses on the struggle of the seven relatives instead of drawing attention by implying the Kurdish problem with popular political references, brought the documentary to an objective point.In this study, based on the documentary The Well; Instead of "documentary-reality", which distances reality from fiction as much as possible, the possibilities of shooting a "real documentary" will be analyzed. In this context, the reasons for avoiding the use of metaphor, the director's limitation of his camera, and the relationship of preference with ethics will be included in the analysis.While "The Well" has strong meanings from literature to visual arts, in the narrative it has been transformed into a setting, character, and plot that can be grasped, seen, and recorded in history by conveying the truth to witnesses; in this state, instead of losing its meaning from its "reality", it gained strength by feeding on the richness of fiction, but also gave up on poetic reality or all kinds of abstract meanings.This study will examine the effects of the director's direct involvement in the narrative on ethical values and its contribution to the reality of the film, as well as investigate the limits of the construction of "truth" in the post-truth period with a documentary film.The fact that the director renounces his power over the film and turns into the eye that is "attracted" and "witnessed" from time to time, rather than "shooting" the film, will be examined ethically with the method of discourse analysis.The aim of the study is to present an example of whether the creation of documentary cinema in search of reality and its way of influencing the masses are in conflict with ethical principles.

Historical novel; documentary

This study aims to analyse socio-political structure of Turkish society at the basis of the results of Turkish Local elections since 1963 up to date. Documentary and historical research techniques will be used during the study. ; Bilindiği gibi toplumlar karşılıklı ilişki ve etkileşim içindeki kurumlardan oluşur. Yapısal-işlevselci sosyoloji perspektifinden bakıldığında toplumda altı temel kurum vardır. Her kurum toplumsal yapı içinde belli başlı işlevler yerine getirir. Bu toplumsal kurumların yerine getirdiği işlevler, toplumsal yapının varlığı ve devamı açısından hayati önem taşır. Siyaset kurumu da, bu altı temel toplumsal kurumdan bir tanesidir. Bu çalışmada, siyaset sosyolojisinin yöntem ve teknikleri kullanılarak, yapısal-işlevselci bir bakış açısından hareketle, 1963'ten günümüze yerel seçim sonuçları temelinde Türkiye'nin genel siyasi yapısının incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bir başka anlatımla, yerel seçim sonuçları temelinde Türkiye'de siyasi erkin oluşumu, şekillenişi, işleyiş ve değişim düzenliliklerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için 1960'lı yıllardan günümüze, son 43 yılın yerel seçim sonuçları incelenecek.

Bu tezin amacı, Türkiye'nin 2002-2013 yılları arasında Ortadoğu'daki rolünü analiz etmektir çünkü Türkiye'nin bu dönemde hangi rolü oynamayı hedeflediğinin açık olmadığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışma, yapılan bibliyografik inceleme ve doküman analizi gibi yardımcı metotlardan yararlanılarak ortaya konulmuş; betimleyici ve tümevarımsal bir çalışmadır. Burada uygulanan metodoloji Türkiye'nin Adalet ve kalkınma Partisi (AKP, Ak Parti) iktidarının meselesini ve hedeflerini daha iyi anlamamızı sağlamaktadır zira AKP iktidarı bölgede ve uluslararası ölçekte farklı bir politika gütmektedir. AKP bölgede Türkiye'ye yer açmak adına bölgesel politikaya aktif olarak katılmayı hedeflediği farklı bir dış politika planıyla iktidara gelmiş ve böylelikle, Türkiye'nin bölgede bugüne dek uyguladığı politika yaklaşımını değiştirerek bölgesel siyasette daha aktif olmaya başlamıştır. Nitekim 2003'ten sonra uluslararası konjonktür, Türkiye'ye bölgede belirleyici bir rol oynamak için birçok fırsat sunmuştur. Bölgedeki "Arap Baharı" etkileri (2011) ve daha sonra Türkiye'deki başarısız darbe girişimi (2016), Türk diplomasisinin bölgede politika değiştirme yaklaşımına katkıda bulunmuştur. Bu, Türkiye'nin Ortadoğu'daki rolünü belirlemiş ve yeni sert diplomasi yaklaşımı nedeniyle Türkiye'ye bazı zorluklar getirmiştir. --- The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the role of Turkey in the Middle East between 2002-2016 as it is not clear which role Turkey has aimed to play during this period. Furthermore, this is a descriptive and inductive research which has been assisted by some auxiliary techniques such as the documentary and bibliographical. The methodology applied here enables us to better understand the issue and the objectives of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) leadership group, since they have presented a different political approach towards regional and international politics. The AKP comes to the power with a different foreign policy project aiming to engage actively in regional politics in order to open space for Turkey. Thus, Turkey started becoming more active in regional politics, changing the approach of Turkey to the region under the Kemalist leadership.The international conjuncture following 2003 presented Turkey with many opportunities to play an assertive role in the region. The "Arab Spring" effects in the region (2011) and later Coup attempt in Turkey (2016) both have contributed to the policy-change approach of Turkish diplomatic approach in the region. It has determined the role change of Turkey in the Middle East and it brought some challenges to Turkey as the result of its new rigid diplomacy approach.

This study was designed to find general characteristics of Contemporary Turkish political Elites since 1995 up to date. Social background characteristics were employed to realise the purposes. Documentary and historical research techniques were used during the study. As a result of examining the Contemporary Turkish political elites (since 1995 up to 2005) these major findings were discovered: the large majority of the Turkish parliamentary elites were well educated, male, middle aged, married and with a small family size. Also, more than 25 percent of Turkish Elites are trader and businessmen. Moreover the size of the groups of lawyers, civil bureaucrats and managers, educators and free professions was also meaningful.Contemporary Turkish political elites have exhibited an elitist character as compared with Turkish society, but this elitist character and male domination has begun to change in recent years. Türk siyasal hayatının ayrılmaz bir parçası olan Türk siyasi elitlerinin toplumsal özgeçmişlerinin incelenmesi ve sosyal anatomilerinin ortaya konması, yalnızca Türk toplumunun iktidar yapısını daha iyi anlaşılması açısından değil, aynı şekilde ülkemizde yaşanan bir çok sosyal ve siyasi gelişmelerin değerlendirmesinin daha objektif bir şekilde yapılabilmesi için de büyük önem taşır.Bu çalışmada, toplumsal yapı içinde stratejik konumları işgal eden elitler teorik açıdan incelendikten sonra son 3 dönem (20. Dönem-1995, 21. Dönem-1999, 22. Dönem-2002)'de Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi (TBMM) çatısı altında görev yapmış/yapmakta olan Türk siyasi elitleri incelendi. Söz konusu elit grubu özellikle yaş, cinsiyet, mesleksel özgeçmiş, eğitim düzeyi ve görülen eğitimin türü gibi sosyal faktörler açısından ele alındı. Çalışmanın sonuçları, Günümüz Türk siyasi elitlerinin orta ve ortanın üstü yaşta, üniversite mezunu, sivil bürokrasi-yönetici ve hukukçu kökenli, evli erkeklerin, egemen olduğu bir elit grubu olduğu gerçeğini ortyaya koymaktadır. Türk toplumunun genel durumu ile kıyaslandığında, Günümüz Türk siyasi elitlerinin, elitist bir görünüm sergilediği kolaylıkla söylenebilir. Bununla birlikte, bu elitist görünüm, her geçen gün azalma eğilimi göstermektedir.
