THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC-FUNDED CHARGING STATIONS TO INCREASE THE RATE OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) OWNERSHIP IN INDONESIA
The current surplus of electricity across Indonesia has further underlined many opportunities to optimize the usage of electricity in many sectors; including on the issue of Electric Vehicle (EV) ownership within the country. According to the government's projection, the state-owned enterprise (SOE) of PLN would construct 254.181 units of charging stations by 2030. However, there exists the problem of 'chicken and egg'; in which more EV charging stations would be required to spur EV sales and vice versa. In addition to that, the lack of charging stations has also led to the disinterest from the public to purchase EVs due to fear of range anxiety. Hence, this paper is written to address the importance of publicly funded charging stations in Indonesia to help cultivate EV development within the country. Not only that, since Indonesia is the largest member country of ASEAN, it could be the 'trendsetter' of this issue in the region and would have the upper hand position as an early adopter. Our hypotheses suggest that not only publicly funded the development of charging stations would be beneficial to the future-buyer of EV, but also for the government itself. Possibilities and Challenges for the Inclusion of the Electric Vehicle (EV) to Reduce the Carbon Footprint in the Transport Sector: A Review
To combat global climate change moving towards sustainable, mobility is one of the most holistic approaches. Hence, decarbonization of the transport sector by employing electric vehicles (EVs) is currently an environmentally benign and efficient solution. The EV includes the hybrid EV (HEV), the plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV), and the battery EV (BEV). A storage system, a charging station, and power electronics are the essential components of EVs. The EV charging station is primarily powered from the grid which can be replaced by a solar photovoltaic system. Wide uptake of EVs is possible by improving the technologies, and also with support from the government. However, greenhouse gas emission (GHG) saving potential of the EV is debatable when the required power to charge the EV comes from traditional fossil fuel sources.

Electric Vehicle Promotion Policy in Taiwan
The developmental patterns of automotive industries in developing countries differ from those in developed countries. Nations should actively and effectively develop an electric vehicle (EV) industry to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and energy consumption, especially during this period of increasing fuel prices and emphasis on saving energy and reducing carbon emissions. From interdisciplinary perspectives, this study analyzed the promotion methods of the EV industry in Taiwan. In addition, we suggest that the Taiwan government should use its advantages in Central Taiwan to assemble mature suppliers of precision machinery in this area to facilitate long-term research and development for the EV industry. This study provides an empirical experience for emerging cities in developing countries regarding the development of the EV industry and is an appropriate reference for the creation of EV industry clusters.

Overview of permanent-magnet brushless drives for electric and hybrid electric vehicles
With ever-increasing concerns on our environment, there is a fast growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs (HEVs) from automakers, governments, and customers. As electric drives are the core of both EVs and HEVs, it is a pressing need for researchers to develop advanced electric-drive systems. In this paper, an overview of permanent-magnet (PM) brushless (BL) drives for EVs and HEVs is presented, with emphasis on machine topologies, drive operations, and control strategies. Then, three major research directions of the PM BL drive systems are elaborated, namely, the magnetic-geared outer-rotor PM BL drive system, the PM BL integrated starter-generator system, and the PM BL electric variable-transmission system. © 2008 IEEE. ; published_or_final_version

Electric Vehicles in Ireland: The Future?
This study explores the merits of the Electric Vehicle (EV) as an alternative mode of transportation in Ireland. The EV has been produced for many decades, but never in a mass production capacity. EVs do not require fossil fuels to power them. With fossil fuels being in short supply and as global climate change is deteriorating each year; the EV will help reduce Ireland's dependence on depleting fossil fuel resources. This current study seeks to establish if the EV can be part of the solution to prevent further un-repairable damage to the environment. The findings of this current study, demonstrate that EVs have the potential to contribute to significant CO2 reductions in the transport sector. This research also outlines the main advantages and disadvantages of the EV, and reviews the future development of EVs. This research study focuses on the technology development, infrastructure development, consumer acceptance and appropriate measures that will facilitate a more rapid utilisation of EV technology. The Irish Government have an existing strategy for the adoption of electric cars, and if successful, the commercial vehicle industry and large trucks may factor into the longer term electric transport strategy. Ireland has some of the best natural resources and the EV will allow Ireland the opportunity to use these resources to generate electricity. This current study seeks to establish if the EV can help Ireland build a successful renewable future for all. The EV is exciting to drive, efficient, has great performance and above all, is environmentally friendly with Zero CO2 emissions.

Redefining Goods Movement: Building an Eco-System for the Introduction of Heavy-Duty Battery Electric Vehicles
Electric heavy-duty trucks are more than just "buzz." Soon, major OEMs will introduce heavy-duty electric trucks in the marketplace, but their success will require collaboration among many stakeholders not currently engaged in the traditional heavy-duty commercial truck market. A paradigm shift in commercial trucking will emerge, forcing greater interdependence among fleets, utilities, truck manufacturers, and policymakers. The Volvo LIGHTS project, a multi-faceted public/private project in Southern California, provides some early insights and a model for successful fleet adoption of heavy-duty electric trucks.

Consumers Purchase Intentions of Green Electric Vehicles: The Influence of Consumers Technological and Environmental Considerations
The purpose of the current study is to explore barriers influencing consumers' intention to adopt sustainable electric vehicles (EV) based on the modified theory of planned behavior (TPB) model. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were employed to analyze the research model, using 262 valid responses. The findings of the current study explored how attitude (ATT), subjective norm (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) significantly influenced users' sustainable consumption intentions. The finding also explored ways in which environmental concern significantly influenced ATT, SN, PBC, and sustainable consumption intention of the users. Not only measurements of vehicle performance, namely safety, reliability, and range, but other factors, such as purchasing price, charging facility, and maintenance and battery cost also influenced consumers' sustainable consumption intentions. The predictive power of the proposed model (R2 = 63.5) was better than the original TPB (R2 = 53.6). Results also indicated that Taiwanese are primarily concerned about the greenhouse effects on the environment, which reflected their sustainable consumption intentions. The conclusions of the current study could assist government and policymakers in designing sustainable programs, which could improve consumers' sustainable consumption intentions to prevent further air pollution and reduce CO2 emissions from the transportation sector.
