; In this paper we locate the mobilizations for a basic income in the context of the breakdown of the post-World War II social consensus, with particular reference to the particular circumstances defining this cycle of mobilizations inSpain. We set out to show, first, why basic incomehas repeatedly presented itself as part of a constituentprocess that makes it possible to configure new political, economic and social relations that favour the deployment of full democracy in everysphere of social life. Second, we will analyse thenature of those actors who have opted for this kind of 'constituent' strategy, we will mark the frequent confluences of those forms of mobilization with what we will call 'strategies of containment and resistance'. Third, we will conclude with a brief exercise of social and political projection in which we present the global emergence of the so-called 'precariat' as a factor which explains the present and future reproduction of the forms of struggle for basic income such as those studied. Too often we forget that culture is not a social fact but a concept. In this article it will be argued that cultures do not exist, in spite of their apparent pervasiveness within the social sciences and in daily life. A question will be raised as to the ideological role of the idea of culture, that is, what effects does it produce in the social construction of reality? To do that, the concept and its uses will be criticized, noting that the very concept and its use in daily life represents practices of classification and segregation. Finally, it is suggested that the concept of culture should be abandoned and that we should look forward to new ways of conceiving human diversity more suitable to a situated ethical thinking.
The financial and economic crisis that has been rocking the globalised world since the summer of 2007 raises the question of whether we are looking at the end of a cycle or the end of a model and highlights the need for a thorough debate of ideas. In addition to the immediate causes of the crisis (such as the bursting of the housing bubble and the toxicity of the financial markets), several deep-rooted causes can be found, most resulting from a period of neo-liberal economic globalisation. Whilst the crisis has had a clear and tangible impact on the countries of the North, it has been calamitous for less developed countries. The damage is compounded by the fact that the review of the Monterrey Consensus, intended to find the necessary financing to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, was thwarted by the emergence of the G20. The political hijacking of the crisis casts doubt on global leadership. Although the G20 monopolised the debate, in the end, the United Nations (UN), under the leadership of the president of the General Assembly, Father Miguel d'Escoto, managed to convene the Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and Its Impact on Development (June 2009). Despite the conference's modest results and the fact that no agreement was reached on many of the recommendations made by the president or the 'Stiglitz Commission', the conclusions as a whole point towards a crucial need to reform the system and governance bodies of the global financial economy. To this end, within the context of the UN, or 'G192', a model of global democratic governance was tabled to address a global crisis with an impact on global citizens ; Postprint (published version)

; Changes in recent years have forced us to rethink our model of society. Intervention both 'by' and 'for" society is required if we are to foster equal opportunity and universal participation, irrespective of social status, sexual orientation, economic standing, political ideology and religious faith, cultural level. etc. New demands need new responses. We can no longer ignore the exclusion affecting some social groups. Women, for example, suffer more than their fair share of problems in facing the challenges inherent in a society that places them ar a disadvantage compared with men. By introducing this kind of philosophy with its pedagogical-social intervention, we are embarking on an ambirious, lengthy and difficult road rowards achieving objectives and a model of society more committed to the values of citizenship equality and freedom.
'Writing is a process; the act of transforming thoughts into print requires a non-linear sequence of stages or creative acts' (James B. Gray, cited by Cassany, 1993). I would add that it is also the act of transforming experience. This article describes my own personal process of transformation in the experience and understanding of vulnerable employment - a slow, open, recursive and difficult process. The first, academic, section flows easily. Then things get harder. The auto-ethnography was the most challenging part. Firstly because it was a matter of personal reflection; then because of a having to strip naked, as it were. Finding a reasonably elegant and flexible way to link the two sections was demanding, and one of the objectives of the exercise was to reach a satisfactorily readable end result.
Anti-fascism makes working or fighting against fscism the top priority, and two basic types of anti-fascism emerged in Europe and North America from 1936 to 1945. The first was revolutionary; the second was conservative and even counterrevolutionary. From the Munich Agreement to the fall of France, and in the face of strong isolationist opposition, US counterrevolutionary anti-fascists—who are usually labeled "interventionists" in the historiography—articulated to an increasingly sympathetic public how fascist regimes jeopardized the United States' national security and way of life.
This research analyses the patterns of social interaction of a specific group of young people who play on-line games in a cybercafe in Barcelona. This group can be classified as a hybrid -on-line/ off-line- since their face-to-face interaction alternates with, and is frequently superimposed on, their virtual interaction. This means that the delocalization that accompanies other uses of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) occurs only in a limited way. What does take place is a reinterpretation of the forms of social interaction of whatever group of young people; at the same time, there is also an interpretation of new information technologies, adapting them to traditional forms of socialization. It is possible to observe how physical place and cyberplace are united and intermingled in various ways, as are face-to-face life and cyber-experience.
; Francoism was a brutal dictatorship, but it was not always that way. Society lived in fear and/or submission; resistant minorities were heroic, but they did not change the political regime. In the 1970s, some segments of society gradually began to lose their fear; the Spanish state no longer controlled social or daily life regarding the use of language; the fight of the trade unions grew despite State repression; universities and cultural spheres despised Francoism and, by the end of the decade, social demands and protests emerged in working-class neighbourhoods. In this context, the political cores -most of the left as well as nationalists- began to take root in the most critical areas of the regime and an 'agreed transition' became almost inevitable. Most of society did not want the Franco regime to continue, but they also feared a traumatic and violent change. The result was a formal democratic beginning. However, institutional Francoism was still present, for example, in the armed forces, the upper echelons of bureaucracy, and the Judiciary. Transition was the beginning of democratisation. Like the rest of his generation, Valls was marked by the Spanish Civil War and the Francoist repression. Therefore he viewed humanity from realpolitik, pessimistic and agonistic; he searched to give a philosophical base to an "we" which would end the struggle of one against another. We analyze his attacks on "we" built on class, culture or nationality, civil society o the "I" individual, emotivism or moralism, which are impotent and feed the natural human "agonism". Instead, Valls first thought he'd found the "we" in the church, but then changed radically and only trusted the Hegelian version of the state. In this article we take a balance of the work and teaching of the recently departed professor
