In the last years, FPGAs have been heavily used in many different critical applications, such as spatial and military ones, where these devices operate in harsh environments. For this reason, research studies about faults (detection, recovery, modelling etc.) in FPGA technology are of primary concern. The main objective of this thesis is the development of an integrated environment for the analysis of fault effects in FPGA routing. The integrated environment has been developed as a Python library, named PyXEL, that integrates Xilinx Software, such as Vivado and ISE tools, and exploits a strong know-how to carry out experiments on routing faults in FPGAs in an automated way. In particular, PyXEL provides an easy way to execute design manipulation, fault injection, bitstreams manipulation, collection and analysis of results. Furthermore, PyXEL has been used for the analysis of fault effects in the interconnection network of the Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A100T FPGA. Routing faults such as conflicts and opens have been injected in the FPGA using randomly chosen Programmable- Interconnect-Points (PIPs). The experiments conducted show that it is possible to use PyXEL in order to gain insights into the real behaviours of fault effects in FPGA routing.

The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of 'Dialogues' as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with 'others', which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, "dialogue" as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title 'translated' into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.
Several Documents of the European Union clearly show that even though mobility is a key element for urban development, mobility policies in urban areas have to be firmly re-addressed in order to mitigate the current heavy environmental costs. Up to now, the scientific debate and the several initiatives promoted by the European Union for steering urban transport towards sustainability seem to converge on one point: the overall number of cars has to be reduced and public transport has to be encouraged in order to increase the sustainability of urban mobility. In the last decade the transition towards a new culture of urban mobility, able to improve urban development and contextually increase the accessibility, the quality of life and the safeguard of natural environment has been largely promoted by European Union. Nevertheless, statistical data show that no significant reduction in the number of private cars in European countries has been achieved. Moreover, the private transport as well as the kilometres covered by car in urban areas are expected to increase. In such a context, what is the role of parking, which represents one of the key elements of an urban mobility mostly based on private car? The choices on parking matter are, in fact, a key element for reducing the dependence on private car inside the city, apart from representing an important connection between transport policies and land use policies. By regulating the supply of available parking, the use of private car can be discouraged, improving in the meanwhile alternative transport modes. In other words, the limitation of parking supply is one of the main tools to get rid of car traffic inside cities:being aware that there is no parking available at destination, people will choose alternative ways to reach it. Thus, parking is recognized on the one hand as a crucial problem, above all in the central areas of big cities, capable of strongly reducing their attractiveness; on the other hand, as the most effectively tool for limiting car use within the cities. Grounded on these assumptions, this paper explores the complex relationships among parking policies, mobility policies and policies targeted to improve urban quality. In detail, the ever-growing importance gained by the mobility policies in view of improving urban quality, as well as the persisting inconsistency between parking policies and mobility policies have been pointed out. Finally, some guidelines for re-addressing parking policies in urban areas have been provided, according to three key-requirements: a strict coherence between parking policies and mobility policies; an effective management of parking demand – especially in some urban areas and according to the parking typology – in opposition to policies of supply promotion; an increased attention to the integration between mobility policies and land uses choices, which strongly affect the parking demand.

The "Guide on the European Programmes Funding for Energy, the Environment and Sustainable Mobility" is an overview of the most significant European funding programs (in the period 2007-2013) to promote the territory and mobility. The programs are aimed at financial measures and measures of environmental policy and governance, information and communication, product development, technical and research activities aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, reducing road congestion and pollution, for example by promoting media greener transport for the traffic of European goods. The total resources made available by the programs is around 14 billion of euros, with financing arrangements and beneficiaries belonging to different geographical areas, including Italy and the Mediterranean. A peculiarity of these programs is to provide for notices (these calls) usually published on an annual/six monthly, which allow recipients to plan participation in the call later. These programs represent an opportunity for developing regions, such as the Southern Regions "Mezzogiorno", who need more support to align with the average levels of growth in Europe. The complete guide, was presented by ANCE (National Association of Builders) and RENAEL (National Network of Local Energy Agencies), March 22, 2012, during EnergyMed (Exhibition and Conference on Renewable Sources and Energy Efficiency that held annually in Naples).

Vengono, quindi, proposte alcune possibili integrazioni. ; This work wants to face an urgent and not postponable issue: the environmental emergency on Planet Earth. The topic is explored from an historical point of view, focusing on some philosophically considerable issues – as, for example, the connection between science and technology – and showing how a change of human behaviour is needed, especially regarding global warming. A taxonomy of the environmental ethics is described, dividing them in anthropocentric and anti-anthropocentric and considering the exception of Hans Jonas. Ethic has problems to face such a complex, global, and with widespread responsibility task which does not offer a sound ground for motivation as environmental protection. In order to exceed these limits, the attention is focused on the notion of common goods, which has encountered a large use over the last few years. This topic is firstly described under the perspective of the history of ideas. Then some proposals are critically examined as the one of Garret Hardin, Elinor Ostrom and some among the different line-ups of the Italian debate as the "benecomunisti", the juridical and the ethic of care approach. Moreover the notion of commons is related in a dialogic way to other concepts such as common good, democracy and rights and a taxonomy of its uses is proposed diving them into: economical, juridical, ethical and social uses. Finally the different proposals of the commons and the one of their integrated approach are critically analysed regarding the help they can offer from an ethical and normative point of view to the task of environmental protection. Also the crisis/opportunity dialectic and topics from animal ethics are described. In conclusion, the common goods approach is considered not sufficient to face a global issue as environmental emergency because of its lack of a global perspective. Therefore some possible integrations are offered.

The world of aseptic industry - mainly constituted by pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and microelectronics process plants - is experiencing unprecedented development due to the pervasive integration of Industry 4.0 paradigms. In this context, the progressive transition to automated manufacturing is characterized by a dual aim: increase of output yield and achievement of superior product sterility. This rapid evolution is currently played in a delicate equilibrium scenario, characterized by the interaction of human and machinery activity. While the former is being progressively discouraged - as one of main sources of contamination -, the expansion of automation is still restrained by the presence of stringent regulations and challenging sterilization treatments. Robotics is only beginning to tackle with this emerging application field. To date, available commercial solutions are derivated from general-purpose counter-parts through a certain extent of modifications; thus, respective offer of well-established mechanical features generally overwhelms more critical hygienic requirements. The motivation of this work is hence rooted on the development of a custom robot architecture that is completely devoted to aseptic industry needs; the devised solution is intended to reside in sterile workplaces, withstand the harsh sterilization cycles of surrounding environment and prevent inflow leakage from pressurized liquid jets. To this purpose, the thesis first explores the vast world of aseptic manufacturing and provides a comprehensive overview of related requirements, best-practice design processes, legislative regulations, decontamination treatments, and state-of-art commercial robotics offer. The core of the work consists in a step-by-step presentation of the aseptic robot development. Starting from the comparative analysis of a number of potential concepts and the kinematic modeling of 6-DOF articulated manipulators, the work addresses the following issues: design of highly-integrated modular drives, selection of ...
