Este artículo presenta una experiencia colaborativa llevada adelante entre el Observatorio Latinoamericano (OLA), The New School, Nueva York, y el equipo del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (GCBA) que está a cargo del plan de adaptación local de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sustentable (ODS), en el marco del proyecto internacional "Implementing the New Urban Agenda and The Sustainable Development Goals: Comparative Urban Perspectives" del programa MISTRA Urban Futures (MUF), Chalmers University, Gotemburgo. Esta iniciativa tiene un enfoque transdisciplinar, concepto que incluye lo interdisciplinar y lo intersectorial, así como una metodología que involucra instancias de co-creación y co-producción. En el caso de Buenos Aires, el trabajo conjunto se centró en la interpretación de las metas e indicadores del ODS 11, cuyo horizonte para 2030 es que las ciudades y los asentamientos humanos sean inclusivos, seguros, resilientes y sustentables. Los espacios de reflexión concebidos entre el OLA y el GCBA pusieron en cuestionamiento la relación entre la academia y el sector público, habitualmente signada por dinámicas de transferencia, dando lugar a nuevas formas de construcción de conocimiento. SUMMARYThis article presents a collaborative experience carried out jointly by the Observatory on Latin American (OLA), The New School, New York, and the Buenos Aires City Government team that is in charge of the localization plan of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), within the framework of the international project "Implementing the New Urban Agenda and The Sustainable Development Goals: Comparative Urban Perspectives" of MISTRA Urban Futures program (MUF), Chalmers University, Gothenburg. This initiative has a transdisciplinary approach, which includes interdisciplinary and intersectorial dimensions, as well as a methodology that involves co-creation and co-production instances. In the case of Buenos Aires, the joint work was focused on the interpretation of SDG 11 goals and indicators, whose horizon by 2030 is to achieve inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and slums. The reflection spaces conceived by OLA and GCBA team questioned the relationship between the academy and the public sector, usually signed by dynamics of transference, allowing new forms of knowledge construction.

Tim O'Brien was sent to Vietnam as a foot soldier in 1969, during the later part of the Vietnam War that can be called the "bad" or unwinnable war. Based on his experience, O'Brien's writing about the Vietnam War in his award-winning fiction novels is always "bad," meaning that the war was terrible for American grunts like himself, his fellow soldiers, and Vietnamese civilians, with practically no good or inspiring stories. Nevertheless, O'Brien touches upon almost all problems of American soldiers in the Vietnam War, but not many peer-reviewed authors or online literary analysis websites could identify or discuss them all. The purpose of this article is to discuss the war details in O'Brien's The Things They Carried and its historical perspective, so that young middle and high school readers can understand the meaning behind Tim O'Brien's writing about the Vietnam War. The goal is to summarize the entire big picture of the Vietnam War and to help students determine whether American soldiers' actions, as described by Tim O'Brien, were morally right or wrong and were legal or forbidden according to the US law of war. The war-related issues that O'Brien mentioned in this novel are: boredom and meaningless death, abusive violence toward Vietnamese noncombatants, drug use, in-fighting, thefts within barracks, grief, rage, self-mutilation, mutilation of enemy corpses, and senseless animal and civilian killings.

This paper on the biological tests carried out on serum/plasma samples from donors of human body material (HBM) is the result of a project of the working Group of Superior Health Council of Belgium formed with experts in the field of HBM and infectious serology. Indeed, uncertainty about the interpretation of biological test results currently leads to the sometimes unjustified cancelling of planned donations or the rejection of harvested HBM, whilst more sophisticated diagnostic algorithms would still allow the use of organs or HBM that would otherwise have been rejected. NAT tests will not be discussed in this publication. In the first part some general aspects as the need for a formal agreement between the Tissue Establishment l and the laboratory responsible for the biological testing, but also some specifications regarding testing material, the choice of additional biological tests, and some general aspects concerning interpretation and reporting are discussed. In a second part, detailed information and recommendations concerning the interpretation are presented for each of the mandatory tests (human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus and syphilis) is presented. A number of not mandatory, but regularly used optional serological tests (e.g. for the detection of antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii, Epstein-Barr virus, human T cell leukemia virus and cytomegalovirus) are also extensively discussed. Although the project was meant to provide clarification and recommendations concerning the Belgian legislation, the majority of recommendations are also applicable to testing of donors of tissues and cells in other (European) countries.

This new edition incorporates studies carried out since the first edition published, as well as including and expanding key areas such as stakeholder perspective and concretion, the role of the experience setting in creating experience, and the connection between co-creation and subjective wellbeing.

The concern of this article is to examine the conceptual framework within which drug-induced ecstasy has been compared to and/or used to interpret religious mysticism. No attempt is made to theorize about the "true" nature of either kind of experience; rather the author articulates the underlying assumptions and examines the social setting within which such discussions are carried on. The modest conclusion of the essay is a plea for caution in claiming analogies and similarities between the two kinds of experience.

Motivation for the choice of topic: The covid-19 pandemic has restructured the entire health care system. As systems of care were overwhelmed, many health professionals in related professional areas became increasingly involved in providing medical aid. The present paper aims to highlight a comparative analysis between two psychiatric wards of the same hospital, with qualified medical staff, with similar levels of competence, one of the wards caring for patients exclusively with major psychiatric pathologies, and the other patients with associated SARS-COV2 infection. The objective is to highlight links between different variables, such as motivation versus amotivation, anxiety and/or burnout, work experience, and resilience, all of which also relate to decisions to accept and provide quality medical care to this particular category of patients. Methodology Application of specific questionnaires and scales on a group of 60 medical workers in two psychiatric wards, one of which was declared a ward working with psychiatric patients with covid. Results: Resident doctors, then nurses, followed by hospital attendants, attending physicians and lastly psychologists, cope in descending order with professional stress related to covid-19 anxiety. This is high and correlates positively with depression and burn-out - which, in the case of young people, risks demotivating them to the point of destroying their future plans and the hope of successful professional self-esteem. Conclusions: The covid-19 pandemic in a psychiatric hospital has raised anxieties even among medical staff, who have moved from somatic to psychiatric care over the years, and the comorbidity of mental illness and SARS-COV2 infection has raised particular problems. Among staff, anxiety, risk of depression, burnout, with depletion of compensatory resources have increased. Resilience calls for the use of mature defence mechanisms and professional experience protects against anxiety and burnout.

The article discusses an upper division capstone class in Sociology focused on the adjunct experience, premised on the idea that students and their families could be important allies in adjunct struggles if they knew more about the conditions and remuneration of this new faculty majority. Students carried out survey research with other students in order to ascertain their knowledge about adjuncts and interviews with adjunct volunteers. The article discusses the class and results.

In my paper, I describe educational experiences carried out not in the name of political choices, but thanks to engaged educators or/and philanthropists. Official school politics have been dominated by conservatism and elitism, whereas educators and philanthropists tried different didactical ways, working out a different idea of a school. The core of the paper is to compare official political school-models and non-official models. At the end, two questions are raised: Why have these experiences not influenced political choices? Why have teachers, politicians and educational theorists not interacted? ; .
