Evaluation in the French Parliament: time to decide ; L'évaluation au Parlement français: l'heure des choix
Following the LIEPP Working Paper No 80, this Policy bief takes stock of the activities carried out within the French Parliament in the field of evaluating public policies over the last ten years. Efforts, notably in the National Assembly, are far from negligible. However, both the quality and the political importance of the evaluations carried out fall short of the expectations expressed by the Constituent in 2008. However, very recently, new initiatives have emerged which point to an act II of evaluation in Parliament. This involves both strengthening the internal resources of the assemblies and external collaborations. ; International audience Following the LIEPP's Working paper n°80, this Policy Brief reviews the activities of the French Parliament in the area of public policy evaluation for ten years. The efforts made, especially by the Assemblée nationale, are far from negligible. However, the quality and the importance of the evaluations done stay below the expectations of the Constituent in 2008. Nevertheless, very recently, new initiatives have appeared and suggest a second act of parliamentary evaluation.
