; Posited in the context of Second-Wave-Feminism and Women Studies, in this text, Gender Studies are introduced with reference to literary sciences. Methods, fields of research, results and new tendencies are discussed by means of examples from Germany and Poland. All these reflections are based on the assumption – inspired by Ludwik Fleck – that 'gender' is both a scientific fact and an analytical category which could customise most of scientific disciplines to the relevance of difference.
In 2012 and 2013, the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research publishes a five-part series on Swedish gender studies, in which Gender Studies Education and Pedagogy is the first part. The aim is to highlight and spread knowledge about gender studies to wider circles, both within and outside universities and other higher education institutions. The publication of this series is being led by editors Anna Lundberg (Linköping University) and Ann Werner (Södertörn University), and includes a reference group of representatives from gender studies disciplines in Sweden as well as the authors who have contributed to the publications. The themes for the four following publications are: What the future holds for students of gender studies – a national alumni survey; Gender studies, politics and social responsibility; Academic challenges in writing and thought; Theoretical/methodological contributions from gender studies. It is not yet decided whether the remaining parts will be translated to English. The publications have been selected based on consultations between the series editors, the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research, the reference group and the authors. The reference group consists of: Ulrika Jansson (Karlstad University), Jenny Björklund (Uppsala University), Stina Backman (Linköping University), Hanna Hallgren (Södertörn University), Fanny Ambjörnsson (Stockholm University), Irina Schmitt (Lund University), Erika Alm (University of Gothenburg), Gunnel Karlsson (Örebro University), Kristin Järvstad (Malmö University) and Mia Liinason (Genusforskarförbundet).

In this talk, I want to examine the place of art in women and gender studies, and how these areas draw upon the interdisciplinary promise of feminist theory when considering cultural production. Art history has been part of women's studies and the work of women artists is studied, but in the pre-dominant switch to gender, sexuality and representation in course structures, I want to draw attention to areas of enquiry that are missing from debates about feminisms in relation to contemporary art. I will refer back to different understandings of the role of art within the women's movement in the 1970s and to the situation of women artists in the art world then and now which are contributing to this situation. Artists and artworks have produced a visual language for feminist protest and produced works which are strongly issue-based and politically engaged with regard to feminist issues, but visual art itself is marginal in most women and gender studies by comparison with research on mass media, film and literature. Studying gender, sexuality and representation (the dominant course, where feminism appears in arts curricula and visual arts in gender studies), art emerges again as a key area of interest, but this provides a very specific focus on certain types of visual representation and I will argue, as a result, other formulations of the relations between aesthetics and politics are not at the centre of these debates.

Lately, the issues relating to gender equality are being hotly discussed. One the indicators of this is the legalization effort of RUU-KKG in the law of the State. This issue was raised because the Feminists see that there is an imbalance in rotes between women and men, as well as in the realm of social, political, economic, and households. This patriarchal culture engenders women to always be under-emphasized in their status and positions in these fields. Al-Qur'an itself equates to both in carrying out tasks in life. This paper will examine whether the issues in regards to gender equality in the Qur'an amounts to absolute equality or equality that not necessarily takes the same form.

The field of gender studies is changing and solidifying at the same time. What kinds of developments can we trace in contemporary gender studies, and what is at stake for gender studies now? What are important questions for/in the field? How come gender studies in Norway (and the rest of Scandinavia) tend to shoulder or "house" adjacent fields that also deal with questions of power and difference, such as critical race studies for example? Why are we working in/with gender studies, and how do we contribute towards advancing gender and feminist studies in theory, teaching, politics and practice? In this roundtable, scholars in the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Stavanger grapple with these questions through examples from our own research and teaching. The purpose for this roundtable is to continue our local discussions and thinking with the field of gender studies nationally and internationally.
; This article discusses the concepts of doing and undoing gender. First, it reconstructs the methodological sense in speaking of 'doing X', the subsequent problems for and the loss of radicalism of doing gender, and the sociological need to supplement it by the concept of 'undoing gender'. Second, the relationship between micro and macro theories in gender studies is taken into consideration. Here, the (un)doing gender theorem's limited scope is met with a rhetorical pre-modernization of society. Furthermore, micro/macro stands for an epistemological divide in gender studies, deconstructing 'genders' micro theoretically while reconstructing them macro theoretically. This divide stems from the political entanglement within the field. All told, this article makes the case for the third of gender difference as an observational position of post-gender studies from whose vantage point processes of both gendering and degendering can be viewed symmetrically.
