Bu araştırma ergenlerin psikolojik belirti düzeyleri ve uyumlarının bazı değişkenler (sınıf, cinsiyet, ebeveynle çatışma yaşama durumu, sigara kullanma ve ebeveynin anlayışlı davranma) açısından anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın bir diğer amacı ise ergenlerin benlik saygılarının psikolojik belirti ve uyum düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisinin incelenmesidir. Bu çalışma genel tarama modeli ile yapılacaktır. Tarama modelleri geçmişte ya da halen var olan bir durumu var olduğu şekliyle betimlemeyi amaçlayan araştırma yaklaşımlarıdır. Araştırmaya konu olan olay, birey ya da nesne kendi koşulları içinde ve olduğu gibi tanımlanmaya çalışılır (Karasar, 2000). Araştırmada bilgi toplama aracı olarak Kısa Bilgi Formu, Kısa Semptom Envanteri (Şahin ve Durak, 1994) Offer Benlik İmgesi Ölçeği (Şahin, 1993) ve Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği (Öner ve Çataktı,1987) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini tesadüfi küme örneklemi yoluyla seçilen 9. 10. ve 11. sınıf öğrencilerinden oluşturmaktadır. Uygulamalar, 2006 ? 2007 eğitim öğretim yılında Kocaeli İli Kandıra Anadolu Lisesinde öğrenim görmekte olan ve çalışmaya gönüllü olarak katılan 215 ergen üzerinde yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda ergenlerin benlik saygısının psikolojik belirti ve uyumları üzerinde önemli düzeyde bir etkiye sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Aynı zamanda ergenlerin benlik saygısı ile psikolojik belirti ve uyumları arasında anlamlı ilişkiler saptanmıştır. Araştırmanın diğer bir bulgusu ise ergenlerin sınıf değişkeni açısından psikolojik belirti puan ortalamaları anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmazken, uyum puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Cinsiyet, ebeveynle çatışma yaşama ve sigara kullanıp kullanmama değişkenleri açısından ergenlerin psikolojik belirti ve uyum puan ortalamaları arasından anlamlı farklılıklar saptanmıştır. Ebeveynin anlayışlı davranıp davranmama değişkenine göre ergenlerin psikolojik belirti düzeyleri anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşırken, uyum puanlarında anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşma bulunmamıştır. ; This study aims to investigate some variables explaining the psychological significance and compliance level of the adolescents such as the parents' attitude, number of siblings, socio-economical condition, teacher's attitude, class, attendance to social activities, sexual education, the students' branch choice, environment for studying and the possession of a personal computer. A further aim of the study is to analyze the compliance of the adolescents with their psychological significance level. This study will be carried out by means of general scanning model. Scanning models are the investigation approaches intending to describe a situation that existed or still exists as it is. The individual, event or the object that is the subject of the study is tried to be described in its / his own conditions and as it / s / he is. In the study, Short Information Form, Short Symptom Inventory ( Şahin and Durak, 1994 ) Offer Ego Image Scale ( Şahin, 1993) and Self-Respect Scale ( Öner and Çataktı, 1987 ) are going to be used as a means to collect information. The adolescents at the age group of 15-18 that will be chosen by means of coincidental cluster sampling constitute the sampling of the study. The applications were carried out on 215 voluntary adolescents going to Kandıra Anatolian High school in 2006-07 in the province of Kocaeli. At the end of the study, the self respect of the adolescents has an important effect on the psychological symptom and compliance. Moreover, there are significant relations between the self respect of the adolescents and psychological symptoms and compliance. Another finding of the study is; whereas there was not meaningful difference in the psychological significance score of the adolescents concerning the variable of class, there were significant differences in the median of the compliance scores. There were meaningful differences concerning the median scores of gender, generation gap, smoker-nonsmoker variables and their psychological symptoms and compliance. Whereas there were significant differences between the variable understanding/ non-understanding parents and psychological symptom levels of the adolescents, there were no significant differences in their compliance levels.
