ABSTRACT. Learning a new language needs a considerable effort for the learner and often the process create obstacles, barriers which compromise the success: use a playful approach to complete traditional didactic activities means not only incourage a creative and spontaneous use of language, but also to promote communication in an opportune and diversified context. The playful approach is not an exclusive characteristic of language didactics to children and teenagers, but it is proposed to different type of learners in order to motivate and support them during the process of learning another language. 1975 mark the turnpoint in linguistic education in Italy: if teaching has always been considered prevalent to learning, the " 10 tesi sull'educazione linguistica democratica" paper published by GISCEL (GISCEL 1975) put finally on the spot learners and the learning process, recongnising importance/ need to adjust teaching to their pace and time. The paper put the accent from that day on on the contrast among traditional pedagogy, which is the cause of damage and descriminate low classes. Flexibility of new pedagogy, cornerstone indisputable of democratic linguistic education, it would not be , instead the teacher focus on ultimate function of language use: the communicative power, premise of any concrete democracy. Just few years before 1975, in USA and Europe, an alternative teaching methodology spread, the communicative and affective approach which recongnise the complexity and difficulty of educational path of the learner in acquisitional linguistic and point out the wellness of learners. Due to this shift of the cornerstone of didactic act of the teacher, from him/her as the source of inscrutable knowledge, to the learner known as binomial of body-mind, a new concept of language, become instrument to interact in specific linguistic-cultural contexts, following the path of the project "Lingue Moderne" of European Council and the spread of notional-functional methodology. (Diadori et alumni, 2009). Today, after fourty years, the effect recognized to inner factors such as motivation, age, cognitive styles, attitude, emotional factors, and the kind of intelligence or intelligences, (Balboni, 2015) push teachers to project new different kind of didactic activities which can satisfied linguistic-comunicative needs of learners from every kind, whom teachers operate. From this point of view, playful approach symbolizes a proper answer to the troubles of multilevel and multiethnic classes (Caon 2006); this approach, it is not only a characteristic of context of children and youngers but enrich adult and young adults teaching contexts. The first chapter of this work examines the thoerical basis of the traditional view of the teaching foreign languages with a peculiar approach to neurolinguistics, acquisition and learning, communicative and affective approach; the methods derived from theories, some of them still used at school. The second chapter instead, centred on teaching foreign languages with playful approach, look deeply into its structure, methodology as well as technological and virtual revolution of this century. In the third chapter, the playful approach become concrete into a project devoloped in four classes: one part of the whole class followed traditional teaching methods, vs the other followed new method, where the approach illustrated in previous chapter came to life through traditional teaching playful activities, to new experimental method with activities on-line and social networks. The research would like to investigate the use of new teaching methods supported by technology would be helpful to the teacher and learners, if it elevates the learning process to a new level; which one or ones of the intelligences in Garden's approach will develop thank to playful activities or not.

; Nowadays it is extremely important to experiment innovative teaching methodologies aimed at facilitating the acquisition of a global communicative competence in a Foreign Language (FL)/ Second Language (L2), also taking into account the most recent European language policies. The starting hypothesis of this research work is that the learner's emotional involvement and the use of different expressive codes, in addition to the verbal code, promote more effective results. We therefore want to demonstrate the advantages of learning and teaching a language by using drama/theatre techniques in specific contexts. In recent years, we have witnessed, throughout Italy, significant changes due on the one hand to globalization and, on the other, at "glocal" level, to the migratory wave that has involved the whole nation e that finds in Sicily, because of its geographical position, a forced outlet. It is therefore necessary to rethink the organization of the learning-teaching process in Italian as L2, in a sociolinguistic, pragmatic and intercultural way and to plan inclusive and wider educational paths that act primarily on motivation and on the lowering of the affective filter. Why then investigate drama/theatre techniques applied to language teaching? Precisely because they represent the winning combination to achieve objectives even outside of schools, in the social sphere. Through laboratorial practices and cooperative strategies, a spiraling educational continuity is promoted in terms of growth and personal autonomy which are linked to the prerequisites for expanding and enhancing transversal skills in ever new and differentiated situations. Dynamic and expressive activities are carried out in relaxing educational environments, starting from body language and physical actions; at the same time, cognitive and metacognitive processes are activated even at early interlanguage stages. This facilitates a more rapid adaptation of foreigners in the host country. In fact, the multi-sensorial, physical involvement promotes an intersemiotic communicative experience which, related to the use of the L2, means opening to the Second Culture (C2) values and comparing the socio-behavioral and pragmatic peculiarities of the two languages in a perspective of democratic coexistence. Theoretical work includes general objectives and takes concrete form in a series of specific objectives by carrying out an analysis of the topics at issue, finally narrowing the research to the Sicilian territory, namely that part of the province of Messina which goes from Capo d'Orlando to Milazzo. In particular, it was decided to undertake action research on the potential of the Glottodrama Method in migratory contexts.

L'inglese 'veicolare'. Opinioni a confronto
The aim of this article is to introduce the ongoing debate on the adoption of English Medium Istruction (EMI) in Italian universities. First, it focuses on the strategic motivations of EMI, i.e. the internationalization of Italian higher education and the role of English in this process. Then, starting from the case of the Politecnico di Milano, the author presents the cultural debate on the defence of Italian in higher education which was initiated by the Accademia della Crusca and has recently raged among Italian academics. Subsequently, the linguistic and pedagogical challenges posed by EMI are discussed with reference to the competence in English required to study and teach in this new mode. In fact, data shows that many national and international students do not possess adequate competence in the use of English, and lecturers are rarely offered training or support, if needed. The author concludes by arguing that the adoption of EMI requires strategic planning and monitoring to meet the demands of internationalization, on the one hand, and implement a high-profile educational policy, on the other.

Insegnare la lingua dei segni italiana all'Università: esperienze consolidate e direzioni future ; Teaching Italian Sign Language at University: well-established experiences and future directions
Sign languages are fully-fledged natural languages, endowed with the same expressive potentiality and structural complexity as spoken languages. The fact that they are transmitted in the visual-manual modality poses specific challenges to L2 M2 (second language, second modality) learners, which need to be taken into account. Italian Sign Language (LIS) has only been recently recognized as an official language by the Italian Parliament. Nevertheless, LIS has already been taught for twenty years in Italian universities. In particular, it was implemented as a specialization language in BA and MA degree courses in the BA and MA programs of Ca' Foscari University of Venice and at the University of Catania. Both universities have taken important steps towards offering specialized academic training for LIS interpreters and translators.

Nowadays it is extremely important to investigate the best strategies aimed at facilitating the acquisition of communicative competence in FL/L2, also taking into account the most recent European language policies. We must rethink the learning-teaching process in a sociolinguistic, pragmatic and intercultural way. As already established by research, the learners' emotional involvement plays a key role for a greater effectiveness in learning outcomes. This is perfectly in line with the principles of the action-oriented approach as set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and in the Companion Volume, published in 2018. This paper aims at describing the potentials and advantages of drama/theatre techniques used in language teaching. We do not find many theoretical studies in this field because it is based on practical experiences which developed both a good language mastery in FL/ L2 and social outcomes, especially for foreigners, such as the possibility to fasten their adaptation in the host country and preserve their linguistic and sociocultural baggage as well. Drama/theatre techniques in language teaching have taken on always more interest because fully responding to the promotion of a plurilingual and intercultural education and of democratic coexistence.
